for some time at Graham Springs in Harrodsburg for treatment. He was buried

Rev. G.M. trout, assisted by Rev. Marshall Black. -Jim was a farmer at White
Hall between Mackville and Willisburg in Washington Co. KY for many years (after
approximately 1920). Prior to that, he and his family lived in "The Old
Toll Gate House" on the Harrodsburg-Cornishville Road in Mercer Co. KY.
He was respected in his community as a good neighbor and friend, known as "Honest
Jim." Per Alice DuPont, his eldest daughter Gene described her father as
follows: "Jim was a man with a short temper who believed in hard work and
discipline. He was thrifty with the dollar and his word was law in his home."
The family attended Bruner's Chapel Church in Mercer Co. KY for many years and
later attended Willisburg Baptist Church. His death was attributed to heart failure
and diabetes. The old homeplace was sold in August or September, 1940 (per Gene
Ivone, 1994).
He was married to Bertha Jane HALE on Jun 2 1901 in Mercer Co. KY. -Luke Hale's

experiencing a mild stroke, she moved to Savage, then to Burnside MN,
to be near her daughter's family. She was ill with Mild stroke in 1995 in Cincinnati

convalescence (lost his hearing and was on crutches). Killed by a hit-and-run
driver the night after arrival while on a walk with a friend, Pvt Silas Butler
of Salinda NC. Thrown 100 feet by a speeding car that did not stop; he died an
hour later at the hospital. He was buried on Aug 24 1944 in Cadiz IN.
