6. James Harrison PEAVLER ⁽¹³⁾ was born on Oct 6 1879. ⁽¹⁴⁾ He died on Oct 11 1939 in Harrodsburg KY.⁽¹⁵⁾ A.D. Price Memorial Hospital; died of diabetes and "complicated troubles." He had previously been for some time at Graham Springs in Harrodsburg for treatment. He was buried on Oct 13 1939 in Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Mercer Co. KY. Rev. G.M. trout, assisted by Rev. Marshall Black. -Jim was a farmer at White Hall between Mackville and Willisburg in Washington Co. KY for many years (after approximately 1920). Prior to that, he and his family lived in "The Old Toll Gate House" on the Harrodsburg-Cornishville Road in Mercer Co. KY. He was respected in his community as a good neighbor and friend, known as "Honest Jim." Per Alice DuPont, his eldest daughter Gene described her father as follows: "Jim was a man with a short temper who believed in hard work and discipline. He was thrifty with the dollar and his word was law in his home." The family attended Bruner's Chapel Church in Mercer Co. KY for many years and later attended Willisburg Baptist Church. His death was attributed to heart failure and diabetes. The old homeplace was sold in August or September, 1940 (per Gene Ivone, 1994).

7. Bertha Jane HALE was born on Mar 13 1882.⁽¹⁶⁾ She died on Apr 22 1932 in Washington Co. KY. ⁽¹⁷⁾ -Died at home with an unexpected heart attack. She was buried in Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Mercer Co. KY. Children were:

i. Birdie Vivian PEAVLER was born on Apr 22 1902 in Mercer Co. KY. ⁽¹⁸⁾ Born in "Old Toll Gate House" (now torn down) on Cornishville Road. She died on Sep 7 1961 in Harrodsburg KY. ⁽¹⁹⁾ Died at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital after a paralytic stroke at her home in Washington Co. KY. She was buried on Sep 9 1961 in Willisburg Baptist Church Cemetery, Willisburg KY.
ii. Desmer PEAVLER was born on Oct 15 1903 in Mercer Co. KY. ⁽²⁰⁾ Born in "Old Toll Gate House" (now torn down) on Cornishville Road. He died on Sep 7 1904.⁽²¹⁾ He appeared to have sweat on his brow just before his burial, leading to speculation that he might have been buried alive. He was buried in Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Mercer Co. KY.
iii. Clarence Medford "Pete" PEAVLER^{(19) (19)} was born on Jul 26 1905 in Mercer Co. KY.⁽²²⁾ Born in "Old Toll Gate House" (now torn down) on Cornishville Road. He died on May 5 1986 in Anderson IN.⁽¹⁹⁾ Died of heart problem(s). At the time of his death, he lived at 1376Locust St., Middletown, IN, and attended Cadiz Friends Church. He was buried on May 8 1986 in Miller Cemetery, Middletown IN. Services in Ballard and Sons Funeral Home; Rev. George Cole
officiated. He Member UAW Local No. 371. Retired from the Chrysler Corp., New Castle, IN, in 1972. Attended Cadiz Friends Church.
iv. Lula Mae "Gene" PEAVLER was born on May 5 1907 in Mercer Co. KY. ⁽²³⁾ -Born in "Old Toll Gate House" (now destroyed) on Cornishville Road.
-Lived in Cincinnati, OH, since 1929, after first residing in
Louisville, KY
(1927), and Indianapolis (1928). She was employed by Sunbeam Appliance
Co., demonstrating Osterizers, etc., for many years. In May 1995 after
experiencing a mild stroke, she moved to Savage, then to Burnside MN,
to be near her daughter's family. She was ill with Mild stroke in 1995 in Cincinnati OH.⁽¹⁾ She Moved to: in May 1995 in Savage MN.⁽¹⁾ Then to Burnsville MN in 1996. She Employed by Sunbeam; Oster Co..
v. Ada Florence PEAVLER^{(19) (19)} was born on Nov 6 1908 in Mercer Co. KY. Born in "Old toll Gate House" (now torn down) on Cornishville Road. She died on Aug 7 1987 in Corbin KY. Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was buried on Aug 10 1987 in Xenia OH.⁽⁶⁾ Services at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St.; Rev. Hank
Geigle, Victory Baptist Church officiated. Formerly employed at Rink's and Montgomery-Ward in Xenia OH. Member of the Victory Baptist Church. In 1987, Ada had 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
vi. Vernetta Rheda PEAVLER was born on Feb 4 1910 in Mercer Co. KY. ⁽²⁴⁾ Born in "Old Toll Gate House" (now torn down) on Cornishville Road. She died on Feb 7 1990 in Danville KY. Big hobby was antiques.
vii. Leroy PEAVLER^{(25) (26)} was born on Jan 4 1912 in Mercer Co. KY. Born in "Old Toll Gate House" (now torn down) on Cornishville Road. He died on Feb 14 1989 in Lexington KY.⁽²⁷⁾ Died from heart attack at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was buried on Feb 16 1989 in Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Mercer Co. KY. He was a Farmer; farm machinery dealer. Leroy did not have a middle name -- he was intended to be named "Lee Roy" after two different people, but it was combined into one name early in life.

xii. Pvt Virgil Thomas PEAVLER was born on Jan 4 1921 in Washington Co. KY. ^(33)(34) Born on Jim Peavler's farm, White Hall, near Willisburg KY. He died on Aug 20 1944 in Mitchell Field Army Hospital, Old Westbury, Long Island NY. ⁽³⁵⁾ -Wounded during the June 1944 Normandy Invasion in World War II; flown back to the U.S. in an ambulance plane to Mitchell Field Hospital, Long Island, New York for
convalescence (lost his hearing and was on crutches). Killed by a hit-and-run driver the night after arrival while on a walk with a friend, Pvt Silas Butler of Salinda NC. Thrown 100 feet by a speeding car that did not stop; he died an hour later at the hospital. He was buried on Aug 24 1944 in Cadiz IN.
xiii. Flora Helen PEAVLER was born on Apr 17 1922 in Washington Co. KY. ⁽³⁶⁾ Born on Jim Peavler's farm at White Hall, near Willisburg KY. She died on Jun 6 1993 in IN.
