444. Jacob SORTORE (1205) was born about 1695 in Palatinate, Germany. (1206) He immigrated before 1730.(1207) He was naturalized between May 7 1730 and Jul 8 1731 in Perth Amboy NJ. (1208) Council & General Assembly of New Jersey. Others naturalized at the same assembly include Peter Rockefelter and his sons who went on to found the Rockefeller family in this country (State of New Jersey, Laws of New Jersey 1703-1731 -- State Library, trenton NJ: State of New Jersey, n.d., p.269. He died on Sep 6 1751 in Somerset Co. NJ. (1209) He had an estate probated on Jan 13 1752 in NJ. (1210) The family and their slaves were treated by Dr. Benjamin Van Kirk (Records at Hopewell NJ

Jacob is probably the groom in a 22 May 1707 marriage, recorded at the Reformed Church in Hachenburg, Germany, wherein Johann Jacob , son of Johann Georg Sartor married Christina Catharina, daughter of Joh. Gerhard Zeppenfeld. This Johann Jacob Sartor also had sons Johannes Peter and Johann Heinrich who died at the age of three. (See Henry Z. child ii. Hendrick SORTORE was born about 1721 in Germany. (1216) He was naturalized between May 7 1730 and Jul 8 1731 in Perth Amboy NJ.(1217) He died between Aug 3 1793 and May 5 1794 in Somerset Co. NJ.(1218) He had an estate probated on May 5 1794 in NJ.
