58. William J. SALLEE
was born in 1811. He died in 1846. Last year on tax list is 1844. Lived on
land where William Martin
(father-in-law) lived and died, adjoins John Sallee, 49 acres. Actual
year of death has not been established. Mercer Co., KY Circuit Court Records
- Judgment Box W #45: Wickersham v. Sallee, Etc., Petition in Equity, filed Apr
4, 1853. Sam Wickersham, complaintant, was appointed by the Co. Court of Mercer
County at its March term 1853 as guardian for Martin Sallee, John P. Sallee,
Rebecca Sallee, Mary Ann Sallee, and Nancy J. Sallee, infant children of William
J. Sallee, deceased. Complaintant states that Wm. J. Sallee departed this life
intestate, and left the above named children and his widow, Nancy Sallee, as
his only heirs at law. The children are all under 12 years of age. They are owners
of an interest in a tract of land on Chaplin River which descended to them from
their grandfather, John Sallee, deceased. The tract contains about 200 acres
and their share is 1/9th part. Wickersham further states that it would be to
the interest of said infants for the tract of land to be sold (their portion)
and proceeds invested in another place for their benefit. John Sallee, Jr., owns
the rest of the tract, and is hereby made defendant to this action along with
Wm J. Sallee's widow, Nancy Sallee. DECREE: ordered that the portion of land
which belongs to the infant heirs of Wm. J. Sallee be sold.[NOTE: Sampson Wickersham
was Nancy's brother-in-law.] He was married to Nancy MARTIN on Apr 2 1832.
59. Nancy MARTIN was born
in 1814. -She is in the house of George and Isabinda Sallee, along with Nancy
J. and Andrew Jackson Sallee, in 1860 census. She is in the Martin Sallee household,
Sharpsville area, in the 1880 census.
-A letter from Iszel (Mrs. Raymond) Hale to Phillip Gene Peavler Sr. ca 1966/67
states that Nancy Sallee Hale's moher was born in Holland.(?) Children were:
i. Martin
"Mart" SALLEE was born on Feb 14 1830. He died on Apr 15 1908
in Sharpsville area, Washington Co. KY. He served in the military Civil War.
(40) "Mart" was on a steamboat when
it blew up at Vicksburg. A Negro dropped a bomb and it blew up the boat, but
Martin was not killed. He was buried in Cornishville Christian Church Cemetery,
Cornishville KY.

John Pryor "J.P." "Pryor" SALLEE was born on Sep 19 1835.
He died on Aug 4 1900. He was buried in Cornishville Baptist Church Cemetery,
Cornishville KY.

Rebecca SALLEE was born in 1836. She was born in 1836. She died on Aug
31 1855. She died on Aug 31 1855. She was buried in Deep Creek Baptist Church.
She was buried in Deep Creek Baptist Church. Might have died in childbirth.

Mary Ann SALLEE was born in 1840. She was born in 1840. At home on the
1870 census.

Andrew Jackson SALLEE was born on Sep 8 1848. He was born on Sep 8 1848.
He was living in 1880 in Washington Co. KY. He Moved to: Reno Co. KS about
1887. -Appears as "Andrew Prior Sallee" (b. ca Sep 1847) in Jack Bailey's
earlier (1985) book, "Bury Me at Dixville, p.48."
-Parentage has not been documented. Birth date is some 2 years later than the
presumed (but also undocumented) date of his presumed father's death. See the
note on page 193 of Jack D. Bailey's book on the Sallees for a detailed explanation.
He is in the house of Nancy M. Sallee in the 1870 census, in Washington Co.
KY in the 1880 census. Moved to Reno Co. KS in 1888.
