Isham Meadows was included in the 1790 census in Warren County, North C arolina. His household consisted of three white males over 16, seven wh ite males under 16, two white females, and no other persons or slaves.4 6 The three males over 16 (born before 1774) were Isham Meadows and his s ons, John and James Meadows. Three of the seven males under 16 (born af ter 1774) were Isham’s sons, William, Daniel, and Edward Meadows.
In 1798, Isham Meadows moved from Warren County, North Carolina, to S tephens Creek in Wilkes County, Georgia, with his sons John, James, Wil liam, Daniel, and Edward Meadows. Isham’s son, Isham Meadows, had moved f rom Warren County, North Carolina, to Wilkes County, Georgia, in 1790 w ith the William Acree family.
Isham Meadows (born 16 February 1740/1) was known in the Wilkes Cou nty and Greene County, Georgia, tax records, as Isham Meadows, Sr. His s on, Isham Meadows (born circa 1765), was known as Isham Meadows, Jr. Th e Jr. and Sr. designations in the tax records were used to distinguish f ather from son, but weren’t part of their names. They were both in the W ilkes County tax records from 1799 to 1802. And, they were both in the G reene County tax records, from 1802 to 1810.
Isam Meaddows paid taxes in Wilkes County, Georgia, in 1799, in Cap t. John Bethune’s District RR, on 125 acres in Wilkes County, on Stephe ns Creek, adjoining Henry Thompson, land granted to Alexander Thompson. H is sons, John, Isam, Jr., and James Meadows lived nearby.47
In 1800, Isam Medders, Sr. paid taxes in Wilkes County, Georgia, in C apt. J. Bethune’s District RR, on 120 acres in Wilkes County, adjoining H . Thompson, granted to J. Alford. His sons, John, Isham, and William Me adows lived nearby.48 William Meadows reached the age of 21 in 1800 and c ame of age to pay taxes.

John Coggin and Isham Meadows were sworn chain carriers and Christoph er Haynes was surveyor for a North Carolina land grant to Thomas Person , 10 May 1762. The land was 700 acres in Halifax County, North Carolina , on both sides of Butterwood Creek, adjoining Person’s corner, Alston’ s line, and Roper’s line. The land was surveyed 22 February 1762.41
William Person, Jr., Thomas Person, and John Coggin, Sr. paid taxes i n 1762 in Granville County, North Carolina, Little Fishing Creek Distri ct taken by Daniel Harris. Little Fishing Creek District adjoined Babti st District where Isham Meadows lived.
In the Granville County, North Carolina, tax list for 1762, Babtist D istrict: John Medors lived in the household of Wm. Byrd. Daniel Meadows a nd Isham Meadows, No. 46, were together in same household paying two po lls42
The Babtist District of Granville County, became Bute County, when i t was created from Granville County in 1764. In 1779, Bute County was a bolished and it’s territory became Warren and Franklin Counties. Isham M eadows lived in Warren County, North Carolina, after 1779.
Isham Meadows was a witness to the will of John Meadows, 10 Novembe r 1773, in Bute County, North Carolina. Isham proved the will 9 August 1 774, in Bute County.43 Isam (^) Meadows witnessed the will of Nathan Wi lleford in Warren County, 30 January 1780.44
On 6 August 1787, Isham Meadows of Warren County, North Carolina, w as grantee of 70 acres, adjoining Anthony’s Branch, Jno. Ward, Ginetto S wamp, and Westcot.45

In 1801, Isham Medows, Sr. paid taxes in Wilkes County, in Capt. John B ethune’s District RR, with no land. His sons, John, Isham, Jr., James, W illiam, and Daniel Meadows lived nearby.49 Daniel Meadows reached the a ge of 21 in 1801 and came of age to pay taxes.
In 1802, Isham Meadows, Sr. paid taxes in Wilkes County, in Capt. S tephen Gatlin’s District RR, on 125 acres in Wilkes County, on Stephens C reek, adjoining Ewing Morrow, granted to John Cargile. His sons, John, I sham, Jr., James, and Daniel Meadows lived nearby.50
The Stephens Creek neighborhood of Wilkes County, Georgia, was cut o ff into Greene County, in 1802. The Meadows lived in Greene County, aft er 1802. Isham Meadows, Sr. registered for the 1805 Land Lottery in Gre ene County, as did his sons, John, Isham, Jr., James, William, and Dani el Meadows.51 (The Stephens Creek neighborhood was cut off from Greene C ounty, and became Taliaferro County, in 1825).
In 1809, Isham Meadors, Sr. paid taxes in Greene County, Georgia, i n Moore’s District, on 125 acres on Stephens Creek, adjoining Stephens, g ranted to Thompson. Isham’s sons, Isham, Jr., Daniel, and Edward Meadow s also paid taxes in Moore’s District in 1809, as did his grandsons, Be njamin and Ransom Meadows (sons of Isham Meadows).
There are no recorded deeds in Wilkes County or Greene County, for I sham Meadows, Sr. He didn’t witness any deeds or appear in court record s. The only records for him in Wilkes and Greene Counties were tax reco rds. His son, Isham Meadows, witnessed deeds in Wilkes County. His son, D aniel Meadows, witnessed deeds in Greene County.
Isham Meadows moved from Greene County, Georgia, to Jones County, G eorgia, in 1810, with his grandson, Benjamin Meadows (son of Isham). Be njamin Meadors paid taxes in Jones County, Georgia, in 1811, on 202 ½ a cres on Falling Creek, adjoining Downs, for Isham Meadows.

Isham, son of Daniel and Jane Meadows, was born February 16th 1740/ 1, baptized January 3d 1741/2 in Bristol Parish, Virginia.16
Daniel Meadows moved to Granville County, North Carolina, about 175 2. He died in Granville County, 16 April 1755.17 On 4 June 1755, in Gra nville County, Isham Meadows, orphan of Daniel Meadows, aged 15 years o n February 16, 1755, was bound to Colonel William Person to learn the c ooper’s trade and to give him two years schooling.18

6. Isham2Meadows (Daniel-1), was born 16 February 1740/1 and baptized 3 J anuary 1741/2 in Bristol Parish, Prince George County, Virginia.37 He d ied 4 April 1829 in Harris County, Georgia, aged 89.38
Isham married circa 1762 in Granville County, North Carolina; his w ife’s name hasn’t been proven. He was probably married twice and it is l ikely that his second wife was the daughter of John Coggin. Isham’s son , Daniel Meadows, named a son, John Coggin Meadows. Six of Isham’s chil dren have been identified. His sons, John, Isham, and James Meadows, we re born between 1763 and 1770, and his sons, William, Daniel, and Edwar d Meadows were born between 1778 and 1783.
On 4 June 1755 in Granville County, North Carolina, Isham Meadows, o rphan of Daniel Meadows, aged 15 years on February 16, 1755, was bound t o Colonel William Person to learn the cooper’s trade (barrel–maker) and t o give him two years schooling.39
Daniel Meadows and Isham Meadows were sworn chain carriers and Thom as Person was surveyor for a North Carolina plat to Thomas Ownsbey, 6 J uly 1761, for 680 acres in Granville County, on the south side of Ready C reek, adjoining Daniel’s corner, Mangum’s line, Acock’s line, Walker’s l ine, and Green’s line.40
