1752 - Robert and Sarah Abernethy moved from Virginia to Granville Coun ty, NC. A deed is dated 01 August 1752 from Renals Allen to Robert Abe rnethy for 400 acres. A second deed from Renals Allen to Robert Aberne thy for 444 acres is dated 05 December 1752.
In March 1756 Robert sold the 444 tract of land to his father.
From 1754 to 1767 he was a lieutenant and then a captain in the Militia u nder Lieut. Col. Paine.
On 20 August 1769 Robert and Sarah Abernethy received a deed from Willi am Henry and wife for 300 acres of land on the West side of the Catawba R iver near Beatties Ford in what was then Tryon County, North Carolina. I n 1782 they sold that land and moved a few miles west toward Catawba Sp rings, by then in Lincoln County. [Rev. Edward B.
