About Our Family Research

April 2, 2004

I've just begun researching my family, as of January 2004. I've actually found quite a bit of information but little of it is proven. I know the most about the Hull/Hanson side as they have been easier to trace. For some reason the Greene/Lee side is harder to find.

I joined the Hull Family Association and hope that this association will help me trace further back than I've been able to do alone, which is only to about 1800. I've searched all the census records, some marriage records, online family histories, and done many searches. I found some family papers my mother had packed away and some research she had done some years ago. These papers were somewhat helpful but not as much as I would have liked.

I just recently found some distant relatives on the Greene/Lee side and they have been researching too. It's been very nice to share information and to have new family I didn't know about! Sometime soon I hope to meet some of these people.

I have not been to any family reunions; perhaps I will be able to do so in the near future. My parents didn't attend any and I wasn't aware of any while growing up.

My next step is to visit some of the places my family lived, try to find cemeteries/gravestones, visit county seats for official records, etc. Connorsville, IN and Grafton, WV are two places I can easily drive to for first-hand research.
