While his origins is not known, it is believed that he came to this country as a boy in the employ of Nicholas Butler of Edgartown, Dukes Co., MA. He died on 20 Feb 1714/15 in Tisbury, Dukes Co., MA. He was married to Mary Butler on 4 Oct 1665 in Martha's Vineyard, Dukes Co., MA. She was the daughter of John Butler and Mary Lynde.

in Edgartown, Dukes Co., MA. She died on 8 Apr 1741 in Tisbury, Dukes Co., MA.
