SECOND GENERATION

2. John MacDowell was born on 20 May 1714 in Near Londondery, Ireland. He died on 7 Sep 1779 in Southport, Chemung Co., NY. He was buried in Miller Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY. He was the progenitor of the family in America, having emigated from Ireland in 1733.

He was married to Hannah (De Pui) De Puy (daughter of Nicholas De Puy and Wyntje Roosa) in 1739 in Bucks County, PA. Hannah (De Pui) De Puy was born on 31 May 1719 in Kingston, Ulster Co., NY. She died on 7 Sep 1779 in Southport, Chemung Co., NY. She was buried in Miller Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY. John MacDowell and Hannah (De Pui) De Puy had the following children:

7 iv. Robert McDowell was born about 1746 in Cherry Valley, Northhampton Co., PA. He was baptized on 12 May 1746 in Cherry Valley, Northhampton Co., PA. He died before 1821.⁽²⁾

11 viii. John McDowell was born about 1758 in Cherry Valley, Northhampton Co., PA. He died on 25 Sep 1779 in Shawnee, PA.⁽³⁾ He was killed by Indians.
