"Pond Row was (per historian) around where St. Geroges Court is today (circa 2002). Carpenters Yard was around there also. Logic states that the Pond was a feeder to the Iron Works in its day."

Per Welsh relatives: "You can take boat from Wales at 10:00 p.m. and arrive in Ireland at 6:00 next morning."

Tredegar was in Monmouthshire - now called GWENT

Welsh relatives told me that John and Mary came from Ireland to Dowlais

John's marriage certificate states "William Scannell...name of father"

places of known residences: 11 Pond Row; 8 George Street; 24 George Street; all of Tredegar. Pond Row was, so historian and photographer, Ron Jenkins states around where St. Georges Court is today. Carpenters Yard, and Church Square were also there circa 1850's.

Boys were furnace men, two worked in Pig Iron blast furnace in Ebbw Vale & two worked in Tredegar and possibly what they also did in America for work.

Dan, Ned, John and Kitty all have imposing build...then William, Johanna and Polly look a lot slighter and quieter.

There is a map of Beaufor in relationship to Tredegar, but the Church is no longer there?

Father Tim Magrath helped in the research on Scannell family in IC Church Tredegar.

letter received in 1983 from Patricia Malizia; 6 Aleda Drive; Scotia, NY 12302..."stated her ancestor was a Daniel Scannell - town of Killarney, Kerry - approx 1804)" and could we be related?

look in Skibbereen, Cork, Ireland as possible place where John emigrated from in Ireland (a Timothy Scannell b. 1841 was married in Skibbereen, Cork to a Mary Cronin....and they emigrated to Dowlais, Wales and had their children there...may be a co-incidence or could John and Timothy have been brothers??) There is a Catholic Church on North Street in Skibbereen, Cork, Ireland.
