Hi..Maybe we can help one another! I would just love to hear from you if you have any Srawbridges or Aikmans in your tree. I will gladly share !!! STRAWBRIDGE - I have 7 generations so far. These are the top two generations:
1. Elijah was in the 1790 census. The 1790 census says Elijah had 4 sons, 2 daughters, and 10 slaves (Martin County, N.C.).
2. My great-great grandfather was one of Elijah's sons, John Strawbridge. He married Esther and had 9 children: Elizabeth, Emma, Martha Patty, Susan, James Nelson (b. 6/1849), William Adam (my great grandfather - b. 4/1850 in Williamston, N.C.), Matilda (b. 1854), and twins (Nancy Lucinda & Margaret Malinda).
On my husband's side I am researching:
AIKMAN - I have 10 generations - back to Alexander (b. 1690 d. 1765). Alexander was supposedly born in Scotland. Wife is unknown but he had four children: Isabella (b. 1733 m. Samuel McIlrath), John (b.1735 m. Mary Boyd), William (b.1738 m. Mary Dunbar?) and Alexander (b.1740 m. Jane). My husbands' line is from John Aikman & Mary Boyd.
