FOURTH GENERATION
66. Daniel Wagener KLEINHANS
(14) was born in 1823 in Belvidere,
Warren, New Jersey.(14) He died in 1905.
The following is an excerpt from "Life in Belvidere", 1970:
PRESBYTERIAN HOME
The house was built in 1865 by Daniel Kleinhans, a wealthy and prominent
citizen of Belvidere, New Jersey. February 27, 1927, the mansion was bought
and opened by the Presbyterian Synod of New Jersey for the care of the aging.
In November, 1969, the Warren County Board of Freeholders met with representatives
of the Presbyterian Synod of New Jersey and completed arrangements for purchase
of the Presbyterian Home on Hartwick Street. Purchase price was $375,000. The
county will take over the home on July 31, 1970. The Synod relinquished the
Belvidere Home because of the need for expansion and the impossibility of expanding
on the local facilities. The present manager is Miss Viola G. Stevens.
As I write this in August 1993, the Kleinhans house is now the Belvidere Public
Library. Daniel Wagener KLEINHANS and Susan DEPUE had
