JOHN SWEAT--was born 18 Oct 1789 at Errol, Coos, New Hampshire, the son of David
Sweat and Elizabeth Akers. Both he and his brother, Daniel, joined the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They married sisters, Mary (Polly) and
Anna Marston of Andover, Maine. They went to Kirtland, Ohio to be with the other
Saints. He joined the Kirtland Camp that went to Missouri. They got there just
as the Saints were being driven from that state so they went to Nauvoo with them
where they settled until they were again driven from their home. He received
his endowment at the Nauvoo Temple 24 Dec 1845. He and Polly had 12 children.
She died at Mt. Pisgah. He started across the plains with the George A. Smith
Co. but died 4 Jul 1850 of cholera 18 miles west of the Missouri River on his
way to Utah at the age of 61.

Mary MARSTON (Molly or Polly) was born on 18 Feb 1793 in Methuen, Essex,
Ma. She was baptized into the LDS church on 15 Aug 1833. She was endowed on
24 Dec 1845 in the Nauvoo, Illinois LDS temple. She was sealed to parents on
4 Sep 1957 in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS temple. She was buried in Mt. Pisgah,

MARY (POLLY) MARSTON SWEAT--born 18 Feb 1792 at Methuen, Essex, Mass., the daughter
of Samuel Marston and Eunice Runnels. She married John Sweat. They made their
home in Andover, Maine. They were a religious family, which read the Bible daily.
When the missionaries came to their vicinity they readily accept their message
as the truth, and joined the Church although they received much persecution.
They moved to Kirtland, and continued to be faithful to its teachings even though
they were driven from their homes repeatedly. Before leaving Nauvoo she received
her endowment 24 Dec 1845. She died 20 Sep 1846 at Mt. Pisgah, Harrison, Iowa.
Her name, Polly Sweat, is inscribed on the tombstone there with many others.
She was 54 Years of age. She gave her all for her testimony of the truth.
