He was a blacksmith by trade. Wasatch Wave--Fri Oct 10, 1919--Andrew
Anderson, an aged and respected citizen of Heber died at his home of
general disability on 5 Oct 1919. Bro. Duke referred to the
conversion of Mr. Anderson and the missionaries and said that he had
done more, probably, than any other man in our county to help those
who desired to come to America. He furnished the necessary means for
their transportation. Mr. Anderson together with his sister, Mrs.
Erickson arrived in America 1872. Two years later his 2 bros. Jonas
and Nels followed, and all have lived here since that time. Bro.
Harvey referred to the departed as a most useful man in his day, he
being very able as a blacksmith and in the working and shaping of
metals at the time when the country needed such men badly. Said that
the reason for Mr Anderson`s coming here other than financial--the
gospel had been restored and the message had found him ready to accept
it and as a result of that he had found a place among L.D.S. It is not
a wonder that the spirit of gathering comes upon those who are
converted in the world for it is common of us all to want to be with
our friends, yet sometimes we forget the purpose of our being here and
neglect to perform our known duties in life. He with a number of
others in his vicinity heard the preaching of the "Mormon" elders,
accepted their doctrines and with his wife and other come to Utah in
1872 making their first permanent home here in Heber. He was a most
useful citizen as blacksmith, wheelwright and repairer of clocks and
watches.
