My search has taken quite a number of years, but once into the correct village in Oestrich and the Catholic church in the village, I was able to follow my ancestors ,through the records, back to 1702 when Johann Georg arrived in Oestrich from Hafegg in Bavaria. The more research I do the more relatives and connections we have within the village itself. On a visit to Oestrich, in Hessen, in 1998 , I saw on the gravestones in the cemetery, the names of people who would be related in some way. Names like Muller, Schmidt,Schafer, Ottes, Moos, Nebel, Ettwein, Ludwig and Winkel. Now with more research I can add other names such as Naegler, Rodenback, Kohler, Schwarz , Schoneck, Kappus, Kries, Egert,Herke,Kissel,Endres, Boehm. The list goes on.
I would love to hear from anyone who may be connected in some way , or who can tell me more about the families that have lived for so long in this beautiful little village that nestles beside the Rhine, on the western side of Wiesbaden, in Hessen. To walk where my forebaers walked was one of the most magical moments in my life.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this Best Wishes Erla
