56. Jacob B. FISCUS ⁽²⁸²⁾⁽²⁸³⁾⁽²⁸⁴⁾⁽²⁸⁵⁾ was born in 1837 in Crates, Clarion Co., PA.⁽²⁸⁶⁾ ⁽²⁸⁷⁾ Born in 1837 in Crates, Clarion County, PA. He died in 1910 in Crates, Clarion Co., PA.⁽²⁸⁸⁾ Died in 1910 in Crates, PA. James Fiscus was the son of John Fiscus and Ester Crate.

During the 1850 census Jacob B. Fiscus lived in Limestone [Township], Clarion County, PA, with his parents (John Fiskes, a farmer and aged 43, his wife Ester, aged 40) and with the child's eight siblings, ranging in age from 20 to infant at the time.

Aarons of Crates: Jacob Fiscus lived on the farm that his father, John Fiscus, had purchased in the Crates, PA, area shortly after he came from Westmoreland County, PA. Jacob assisted his father on the farm until he became of age, when he purchased a tract of timber around Crates. His lumber business included Clarion and Jefferson Counties. At one time he donated lumber for the construction of the church hall.

Penna. Comm. Record: Jacob B. Fiscus was a prominent citizen of Rose Township, Jefferson County, PA. Lived on farm of 283 acres. Lumbered in addition to farmed. His parents were natives of Westmoreland County. When a boy and not needed on the farm, he walked two miles to the district school. He helped his father farm until the age of majority, when he went his own way in the world. Was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and always affiliated with the Democratic Party. Was a strong advocate of the free coinage of silver, and served in a number of school offices. Later moved to Sigel, PA. Buried at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Crates, PA.

Jacob B. Fiscus and his son, Frank Cyril Fiscus, both carved their name in the side of a corncrib on the farm in which they both worked and lived. He was married to Susanna(h) (Susan) AARON on Nov 10 1858 in Crates, Clarion Co., PA.⁽²⁸⁹⁾⁽²⁹⁰⁾⁽²⁹¹⁾⁽¹²²⁾ Jacob B. Fiscus married Susan Aaron in 1858. Both were residents of Clarion County, PA, at the time.

Obituary: Susanna Aaron married J.B. Fiscus, of Corsica, on November 10, 1858, at Crates, PA. Jacob B. Fiscus and Susan Aaron had 9 children according to one source, or more accurately probably had 12 children only 9 of whom were living in 1898. Although they lived in Crates for some time, they later moved to Sigel. They are both buried in Crates. All the descendants of Jacob B. Fiscus and Susannah Aaron can be found in the "Aarons of Crates" book.

At the golden wedding anniversary celebration held on September 24, 1908, 175-200 people were present. They "greatly enjoyed the rich and ample provision made for their comfort and necessities. Two long tables, each accommodating about fifty people at a sitting, were laden to the limit with the good things of the season, everything afforded tempting the appetite of the willing partakers, and thoroughly proving the good taste and skill of the cooks and waiters to minister to the needs of a hungry crowd." Four priests were present: Father McGivney of DuBois, Father Wagner of Brookville, Father Weinkler of Eleanora, and Father lLink of Oil City, PA. Forty of their 43 grandchildren were present.

57. Susanna(h) (Susan) AARON⁽²⁹²⁾⁽²⁹³⁾ was born on Sep 15 1841 in Crates, Clarion Co., PA.⁽¹²²⁾ Susanna Aaron was born September 15, 1841, in Crates, PA, to James and Margaret Osborne Aaron. She died on Nov 19 1919 in Larkytown (near Falls Creek), PA.⁽¹²²⁾⁽²⁹⁴⁾ Susanna Aaron Fiscus, of Brookville, PA, died on November 19, 1919, of "infirmities of old age." -- Obituary

Although living in Brookville, PA, at the time of her death, she actually died in Larkytown, PA, while visiting there. -- Rose Smith During the 1850 census, Susanna Aaron, age 8, lived in Redbank Township, Clarion County, PA.

"Susannah scalded her hands and ever after the fingers were bent. She could do all manner of housework." Children were:

i. Rose Ellen FISCUS was born on Dec 28 1859.⁽²⁹⁵⁾ She died on Oct 19 1913.⁽²⁹⁵⁾
ii. Miriam FISCUS was born on Jul 19 1861.⁽²⁹⁵⁾ She died before 1898.⁽²⁸⁴⁾ Only nine of the 12 children of Jacob Fiscus and Susanna Aaron were alive in 1898. iii. Bernard Jacob FISCUS was born on Oct 4 1863.⁽²⁹⁵⁾ He died in 1918.⁽²⁹⁵⁾
iv. John William FISCUS⁽¹²²⁾ was born on Jan 12 1866.⁽²⁹⁶⁾ He died on Dec 26 1940.⁽²⁹⁷⁾ John W. Fiscus, son of Susanna Aaron, was living in Crates, PA, in 1919, when his mother died.

vii. Andrew Patrick Albinus FISCUS⁽¹²²⁾ was born on Mar 1 1873.⁽²⁹⁵⁾ Date of birth. He died in 1923.⁽²⁹⁸⁾ Andrew P. Fiscus, son of Susanna Aaron, was living in Crates, PA, in 1919, when his mother died.
viii. Catherine Matilda (Kate) FISCUS⁽¹²²⁾ ⁽²⁹⁴⁾ was born on Aug 6 1875 in Crates, Clarion Co., PA.⁽²⁹⁵⁾⁽²⁹⁴⁾ Born August 6, 1875 (Aaron book) in Crates, PA (Rose Smith). She died in 1960 in Nyssa, OR.⁽²⁹⁴⁾ Catherine Fiscus died in Nyssa, Oregon, while visiting her daughter, Rose Smith and Rose's husband, Murl Burns. She was actually living at the time in Grants Pass, Oregon, with her daughter, Emma, and Emma's husband, Oscar Brolin. Katherine Fiscus, wife of W.A. Smith and daughter of Susanna Aaron, was living in Falls Creek, PA, in 1919, when her mother died. -- Obituary of Susanna Aaron

After her husband William Smith died young in 1920 or 1921, Catherine Fiscus's doctor recommended that she move out of the Falls Creek, PA, area because of her asthma. She moved to Kane, PA, in about 1922 or 1923 with her six kids because the altitude was higher. She later moved to Detroit, MI. She moved from Detroil to Oregon in 1951, where she lived with her dauther Emma Smith, and Emma's husband, Oscar Brolin. Catherine was taken care of by her son Merl, who never married, until she died in about 1960. -- Rose Burns, 1/4/97
ix. Gertrude Ann FISCUS⁽¹²²⁾ was born on Dec 27 1878.⁽²⁹⁵⁾ She died in 1950.⁽²⁹⁵⁾ Gertrude A. Fiscus, wife of James A. Mineweaser and daughter of Susanna Aaron, was living in Brookville, PA, in 1919, when her mother died.
x. George Benedict FISCUS⁽¹²²⁾ was born on Oct 15 1881.⁽²⁹⁵⁾ He died on Aug 14 1951.⁽²⁹⁵⁾ George B. Fiscus, son of Susanna Aaron, was living in Brookville, PA, in 1919, when his mother died.
xi. Joseph Augustus FISCUS was born on May 1 1884.⁽²⁹⁵⁾ He died before 1898.⁽²⁸⁴⁾ Only nine of the 12 children of Jacob Fiscus and Susanna Aaron were alive in 1898. This child was not listed as one of the living, and so must have died prior to 1898.
xii. Marie Fiscus VICTOR⁽²⁹⁹⁾ was born after 1885. She died before 1898.⁽²⁸⁴⁾ Only nine of the 12 children of Jacob Fiscus and Susanna Aaron were alive in 1898. This child was not listed as one of the living, and so must have died prior to 1898. Marie Fiscus Victor was adopted, and is listed as the 12th and last child of Jacob Fiscus and Susannah Aaron.
