448. John FISCUS I
(719)(720)
was born on Oct 29 1745 in Philadelphia, PA.
(721)(234) John Fiscus was
born October 29, 1745, in Philadelphia, PA. -- Fiscus notes.
John Fiscus, married to Catherina Fans, was born before 1758. -- Family Search.
He was baptized on Nov 3 1745 in Philadelphia, PA.
(722) It appears that John Fiscus, son of Gerhard Finkes, was baptized
on November 3, 1945, per the records of the Penna. German Society. His sponsors
were Carl Ludewig Essig, and John Jacob Hausmann. The minister was the Rev.
Michael Schatter, the organizer and educator of the German Reformed Church in
America. He died after 1810.(723) In
the 1810 census, there is a John Fiscus in Sadsberry Township, Crawford County,
so he died after that date. There is no record of John's death in Crawford County,
PA, and, if he went to Ohio with his four sons, no record has been found there
either. Nor can it be ascertained whether he went with Jacob to Venango and
Clarion County. Shortly after 1769, Garrett Fiscus and his three sons, John,
Charles and Abraham, came from Lancaster County, PA, to Westmoreland County,
PA, via the Forbes Road. -- J.A. and Elma Fiscus, p.27
On July 20, 1769, John Fiscus obtained Land Patent #3651 in the New Purchase.
The land lay along the south border of his father's land. The patent was for
344 acres and was entered in the first Plan Book of Westmoreland County. Between
1772 and 1786 there are a number of entries in the Penna. Archives regarding
John Fiscus. -- J.A. and Elma Fiscus, p.36
On April 25, 1778, John Fiscus took the Oath of Fidelity to the government of
Pennsylvania. -- J.A. and Elma Fiscus, p.36
In the 1790 census, under John Fiskey, is listed: 2 M, 4M under 16, 2 F. --
J.A. and Elma Fiscus, p.36
John Fiscos, elder son of Gerhart Fiscos, was given only five shillings by his
father in his father's 1797 will because "he forsake his religion."
After John's father, Gerhart, died in 1797, John left Westmoreland County, PA,
and moved to Crawford County, PA, because a deed record in Greensburg, PA, states
that on February 3, 1801, while living in Crawford County, John sold 240 acres
in Westmoreland County for $400. The sale was recorded on March 28, 1801. Then,
between 1801 and 1808, there are four records for Sadsbury Township, Crawford
County, PA, showing the possessions of John Fiscus. -- J.A. and Elma Fiscus,
p.33
In the 1810 census, there is a John fiscus in Sadsberry Township, Crawford County.
-- J.A. and Elma Fiscus, p.37 He was married to Catherina (Catharina) FANS
on Dec 15 1766 in Cumberland, PA.(724)
(234) John Fiscus was married to Catherina
Fans on December 15, 1766, by the Rev. John Conrad Bucher of Cumberland County.
Rev. Bucher served the first Reformed Church in Cumberland Valley and at Maytown,
PA. -- Fiscus Notes.
John Fiscus married Catharina Fans in Cumberland, PA, on 15 Dec. 1766. -- Family
Search.
John Fiscus married Catherina Fans and had 6 children. The names of the sons
were Abraham, Joseph, John, George, Wilhelm, and Jacob. There may also have
been a daughter.
John Fiscus married Catherina Fans and had 6 children. Their names were Abraham,
Joseph, Jacob, David, William and Adam. 449. Catherina
(Catharina) FANS(725) was born before
1754 in PA.(726)
(234) Catherina Fans was born 15 Dec. 1766. [Probably not correct
date; probably date of marriage, instead.] -- Rhineland.
Catherina Fans, wife of John Fiscus, was born before 1762. -- Family Search.

Abraham FISCUS(727) was born on Sep
16 1781.(443) Birth date. He was baptized
on Aug 22 1784 in Westmoreland Co., PA.(443)
Abraham Fiscus, son of John Fissguss and Catherina, was baptised August
22, 1784, by the Rev. John William Weber at one of his churches in Westmoreland
County and Pittsburgh, probably in Westmoreland County. He died after 1850.
(728) In the 1850 census Abraham Fiscus,
age 70, was living in the home of Leonard Early in Clay Township, Highland County,
OH. Abraham's father, John Fiscus, moved to Crawford County between 1797 and
1801, and Abraham probably moved with him. In 1803 Abraham Fiscus was assessed
$.20 in Crawford County, PA, as a single man. Between 1812-1814 both Abraham
and his brother Joseph served in the War of 1812, so perhaps they travelled into
Ohio during the war, came back to Crawford County, and moved their families with
them, because both Abraham and Joseph Fiscus eventually moved from Crawford County,
PA, to Brown County, OH. In the 1850 census Abraham Fiscus, age 70, was living
in the home of Leonard Early in Clay Township, Highland County, OH. An Elizabeth
Fiscus, also aged 70, also lived there--maybe his wife.

at one of his churches in Westmoreland County and Pittsburgh, probably in Westmoreland

1790.(452) In the 1850 census Joseph

(730) In the 1850 census Joseph Fiscus is listed in Lewis Township,
Brown County, as aged 60 and insane in the infirmary, having been born in PA.
John Fiscus's sons included Abraham, Joseph, John, George, and Jacob.
Joseph's father, John Fiscus, moved to Crawford County between 1797 and 1801,
and Joseph probably moved with him. Between 1812-1814 both Joseph and his brother
Abraham served in the War of 1812, so perhaps they travelled into Ohio during
the war, came back to Crawford County, and moved their families with them, because
both Abraham Fiscus and Joseph Fiscus eventually moved from Crawford County,
PA, to Brown County, OH. Joseph Fiscus is listed in the 1830 census from Pike
Township, Brown County, OH. In the 1850 census he is listed in Lewis Township,
Brown County, as aged 60 and insane in the infirmary, having been born in PA.
