"Francis Stanfield and Grace, his wife, late of Garton, in Cheshire, England, reached Pennyslvania 7m. 29, 1683, in the ship "Endeavor", o f London, Geo Thorp Master. They brought with them their children James, Mary , Sarah, Elizabeth, Grace and Hannah, besides the following servants, Dan Brown, Tho. Marsey, Isa. Broolsesby (?), Rob. Sidbotham, John Smith, Robt. Bryan , Nathan Rudway, and Tho. Sidbotham. The Stanfields settled in Marple Township, Chester County and we re among the earliest settlers in that section. The parents seem to have bee n well advanced in years at the time of coming to this country. They were F riends in that formative period, consequently the settlement of a new country, regligious meetings were held at private houses until some one plac e had been determined upon. During this period one or more meetings were held at the house of Francis Stanfield as shown by the following minutes at quarterly meeting of Friends held 3 m. 3, 1686 it was "agreed at a meeting ___ _________ at John Boiters [Bowaters] upon ye same first day it was used to be at Bartholomew Coppocks, for ye ease of such yet live westerly in ye woo ds, and ye rest of Friends living ye other way upon at same day, to meet at F rancis Stanfields until further consideration." At a Quarterly Meeting held 6m. 2, 1686 it was "agreed ye meeting at Francis Stanfields, upon fresh consideration be removed to Bartholomew Coppock's ye younger, to begin ye next first day and ye following 4t h day until Friends see cause to remove it." Francis Stanfield was a member of the Pennsylvania Assembly fro m Chester County in 1685. He was also a member of the Provincial Assembly in 1685. He died in 1692, his wife died a year earlier. The heirs joined in the sale of certain real estate and in ope n court of Chester County, Isaac Taylor, attorney for Francis Chadsey [or Chads ] and Grace his wife, Edward Bennett and Sarah his wife, Thomas Hope and El izabeth, his wife, William Huntley and Mary his wife, Richard Woodward and Deb orah his wife acknowledged a deed to Thomas Pearson for 300 acres of land date d 12m. 4, 1703/4, and another of the date to Joseph Worrall for 273 a cres and 200 acres. Children of Francis and Grace Stanfield : 1. James Stanfield d. 1699; m. Mary Hutchinson of Burlington, New Jersey, 1689. 2. Mary Stanfield m. William Huntly, 1692 and had children: Elizabeth, Francis, Deborah, Mary, Sarah. She m. 2nd Richard Fletcher in 1713. 3. Sarah Stanfield m. 1st William Clows or Clews of Bucks County, m. 2nd Edward Bennett of Thornbury and had children: Edward, Sarah, Joseph, William, Elizabeth. 4. Elizabeth Stanfield m. 1st Thomas Hope in 1697. He d. 1708. Sh e m. 2nd 1709, William Horne, he died 1743. No issue. 5. Grace Stanfield m. 1st Francis Chads in 1695 and had issue: Sarah, John, Grace, Betty, _______, Francis. She m. 2nd Guyon Stevenson 7 m. 16, 1719. She d. 1728. 6. Hannah Stanfield m. 1699 Isaac Few b. 4-6-1664. He died 1734 aged about 70 years. Son of Richard and Jane Few Issue: A. Richard m. Betty Booth no issue. B. Isaac J. m. Jane Evans. C. James m.
