(214) George Washington Myers died Feb. 8, 1919, in Oil City of ureamic
poisoning. -- T.H. Myers, Gale Myers (date and place only).
He died of ureamic poisoning. George Washington Myers was a child of Henry
Myers Jr. and Nancy A. Burns. He served in the Civil War with the 56th Penna.
Regiment, and was wounded in action. After the war, he worked in the west.
He married in Kansas and returned to Clarion County, PA on Nov. 26, 1876, and
spent the remainder of his life on the Myers homestead at Blairs Corners. For
a number of years, he carried the mail between Blairs Corners Post Office and
the railroad station. He was an active member of St. Paul's Reformed Church
[near Wentlings Corners, PA]. -- T.H. Myers.
The Directory of Clarion County, Clarion Jacksonian Print, Clarion, Pa, 1887,
lists a G.L. [not G.W.] Myers as a resident of Blairs Corners, Beaver Township,
PA, whose occupation was a farmer. -- History of Wentlings Corners.
George Washington Myers is the grandfather of Theodore Henry Myers.
He is called George W. or George Washington Myers several times in the family
Bible, although his daughter, Jennie Myers, wrote her father many postcards addressed
to "G.L. Myers."
George's father, Henry, wrote in his will: "3rd I give bequeath and devise
to my son G. L. Myers that portion of my farm lying west of the Rail Road and
this will shall give to my son G. L. Myers a good and sufficient title to the
above mentioned land." He also wrote: "and lastly I Constitute and
appoint John C. Shields of Licking Township and G. L. Myers of Beaver Township
my Executors of this my will and testament imposing full Confidence in them."

Jenny attended Blair's Corners School in 1893 with her brother, Warren Henry
Myers. She also lived for many years with James Miller and Dorothy Myers (Miller)
at the Myers Homestead after her husband died. |
