Will and Emma first moved to McCaulley, TX in 1907 from Hood County. The family lived on what was then known as the Walter Bridges place, southeast of McCaulley. Albert and Annie went to the White Pond School. The 2nd year Will rented land from Frazier Bridges, and they lived in a house near where the overpass is now located. THis location was convenient to the McCaulley School, and six of the children attended. It was at that tiem that Harvey Hennington attended there. In the years of the 1960's, Harvey, Levi McCollum, and Will Jackson were the oldest former students present at the McCaulley School Reunion.
Will and his family attended the local Baptist CHurch. As usual at that time, the churches were centers of social, as well as religious life. One photograph in the familky is of a male singing group under the direction of Pastor Ernest Bradbury. Some of the singers were: Robert Fancher,Harvey, Arthur, and Boyett Hennington. Still another family picture shows the community baseball club in which the older boys played. Boyett was an uncle of Harvey, Arthur and the others. The Grandfather (William Garrison Hennington) lived on what is now the Alfred Ray Griffin farm. Another uncle, Clement Hennington lived in a house on the Wilson land. Most of these Hennington's left McCaulley for western parts of the states about 1910.
In this same year, Will and family decided to stake out a homestead near Lovington, New Mexico, at a place called Midway. This was one of many moves for the family. Born in Mississippi, Will Truman Hennington came by ox wagon to Ellis County, TX with his father and mother (Kate Cornelius Slay Hennington) at the age of nine years.
Will was the oldest of nine children. He married Emma in 1885, dau. of W.A. Beauchamp of Milford, TX. In 1890 began the family's transient times exhibiting true pioneer courage and fortitude.
In 1912, Arthur (son of Will) and Bernice Bridges (dau. of Frazier Bridges) were married in McCaulley, TX. Thier son Paul, was born in MCCaulley, TX; later they moved to Prairieview, New Mexico and then later to Livington. They built a spacious modern home in Lovington, but Arthur still commuted via pickup truck to the farm everyday. He stated that riding the tractor kept him physically fit. Paul served overseas in WWII and was married to Judy Cooper White. Paul and Judy worked together in the photography business and their daughter Sherrie married Mikel Mastrogany.
After Three years in NEw Mexico and three years in south Texas, Will and family returned to McCaulley, TX in 1916. After a few months they purchased a farm north of town where they lived for many years. When the United States became involved in WWI, Harvey, Ollie, and Albert served in France until the war ended on November 11,1918. THe return of the soldiers from war was a time of Thanksgiving for the entire nation, as well as for the family. Harvey and Albert farmed the "Hennington Place" until 1967. Harvey died on December 17, 1967 and Albert retired from farming that same year continuing to live in McCaulley..
