Chester M Baldwin (b. 26 Oct 1849, d. 28 Mar 1910)

Chester M Baldwin (son of Baldwin and Marinda)^{126, 127, 128, 129} was born 26 Oct 1849 in Bergen, Genesee, New York^{130, 131, 132, 133}, and died 28 Mar 1910 in Sheridan, Montcalm, Michigan¹³⁴. He married Sarah Elizabeth Stephenson on 1867¹³⁵, daughter of Joseph L. Stephenson and Abigail Cushman.

The first record that I found of Chester was the 1870 Census, the township of Evergreen in Montcalm County. It said that he was 22 years old and working as a Teamster, born in New York. Sarah his wife, 22 years old, born in New York. Franklin his son, 1 year old, born in Michigan. Stanley his son, born within that year and in Michigan. ( It also said there was a person named Marinda Carner, 60 years old, born in New York in this household. )
The 1900 Census said Chester was 50 years old, married for 33 years, born in Oct. 26,1849, as a farmer. Sarah, 52 years old, born March 1848, 7 children and 7 children still living. Frank, son, 31 years old, born Nov. 1868, is a farm laborer. Ida, daughter, 13 years old, born July 1886. Gertude, daughter, 12 years old, born May 1888.
The 1910 Census, Chester had just passed away. So he was not listed.
I don't know where he lived first when he moved to Michigan. But the first record I found was when he bought a piece of land in Evergreen Township. The year was 1889. It was 80 acres of woods and farm land with a stream running through the property.
