Dolores Maxine Misner (daughter of Earl Raymond Misner and Marian Genevieve Griggs)²⁶⁰⁸ was born 09 Aug 1932 in Sheridan, Montcalm, Michigan²⁶⁰⁸, and died 27 Apr 1991 in Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan²⁶⁰⁸. She married James Clair Baldwin on 24 Feb 1951 in Sheridan, Montcalm, Michigan²⁶⁰⁹, son of Clair William Baldwin and Tressie Morey.

My mother, Dolores Baldwin, was born on Aug. 9, 1932 in Sheridan, Michigan. She is the first child of Earl and Marian Misner. She was born on Frank Griggs farm. Same place as her mother was born. Just outside of Sheridan on Brown Rd.
The first 3 years of her life she lived in an apartment house which was owned by her Great Aunt Dora [Griggs] Rutherford. The apartment house was above a store in downtown Sheridan.
At that same age she lost both of her grandfather's. Frank Griggs my mothers father, and John Misner my father's father. Frank died of injuries by a plow handle that struck him in the stomach. John died of colon cancer.
She was told by her mother that she would follow behind Grandpa Griggs when he was plowing, of course at that time the horse pulled the plow. She was told her Grandfather thought a lot of her.
At the age of three, her family moved to a house at the south end of Sheridan- Fargo St. She did not remember to much about living their, but a tire swing and a sand box. She lived their until she was nine, then moved to 229 S Sherman St. She lived there until she was married.
Also when she was three she had a brother named Jack. Then when she was fifteen she had another brother named Ned Lee Misner.
She told me she remembered her first day of school [1937] and would always remember. She was a little scared and had to share a desk with another girl she did not know. She loved school and all her teachers. She wrote her favorite teachers down.
Her Aunt Margaret Griggs passed away on Feb. 16, 1987. She was 83 years old. She was in a nursing home in Midland, Michigan. She was there for about 8 years. She had not recognized anyone for a long time. Dolores like her a lot. She was the wife of my mothers brother Bentley Griggs.
She would stay with Grandma Griggs on the farm. She helped feed the chickens and collect the eggs. She watch when they would " kill the old rooster " by chopping his head off on an old stump in the backyard. On Wednesday a grocery truck would come to the farm. It was a big treat because she could pick out some candy. They would large breakfast and a big dinner with a light meal for supper. Dinner was always at noon. This would last for an hour and the last half hour nap time for everyone.
