"WHAT I KNOW ABOUT"
MARIAN GRIGGS

The Griggs that I know about the most is my grandmother Misner. Her maiden name is Marian Geneieve Griggs. Her father and mother are Frank and Mary Griggs. Marian was born on Aug. 12, 1913. She was number 8 out of 9 children. She was born on the farm that Frank and Mary had. She told me that her two brothers named her. One named her Marian and other brother picked her middle name Genevieve. I am not sure but I think George and Ernest were the two brothers.
She grew up on that farm until she met and married Earl Misner (my grandfather). If I remember right they met in school. They married on Dec. 12, 1931 in town of Six Lakes, Michigan. My understanding was they lived in an apartment that Marian's aunt Dora owned which was in the town of Sheridan. Marian has lived all her life in the town of Sheridan.
Marian was also a great cook. I loved going to her house to eat. We would go over there on most holidays to eat. It must run in the family that the Griggs women were great cooks. They all had that great sense when it came to cooking,my mother also. Also my grandmother was a very neat housekeeper. She always had a nice and clean house. I also remember that when my parents would go out they would get grandmother to come over to our house and baby sit. I always looked forward to that.
She worked out side the house on and off. During WWII, she went to work at a factory in Ionia, Michigan. This factory was a car parts maker, but during WWII it change into making military hard ward. From what I understand it made bombs. After the war she went to work in a factory in Greenville, Michigan. The factory made refrigerators. Her husband also worked there {Earl Misner}. My father James worked there also, and I {Martin} worked there in the summer.
Just about every Saturday, my grandfather would take Marian shopping in near by Grand Rapids or Lansing Michigan. She loved to shop on weekends, so they always looked nice in their cloths.
