George Griggs (son of George Griggs and Lucy Griggs)^{1527, 1528, 1529} was born Aug 1835 in Dumfries, Ontario, Canada^{1530, 1531, 1532}, and died 31 Mar 1917 in Sheridan, Montcalm, Michigan¹⁵³³. He married Mary Harper on 28 Nov 1860 in Oxford, Ontario, Canada¹⁵³⁴, daughter of Benjamin Haper and Hannah Rapson.

The 1900 Census says that George Griggs was born on Aug. ? 1835 in Dumfries, Ontario, Canada. The Census says he came to the U.S. in 1870. That would make George 35 years old when he traveled to the U.S. It said that George had been married for 40 years in the 1900 Census, he was married in the year of 1860 and that he had a wife when he traveled to the U.S.
He married a girl named Mary Harper. She was born in April ? 1840 in Blenheim, Ontartio, Canada. She was only 30 years old when she arrived in the U.S. George and Mary were married Nov. 28 1860 in Oxford, Ontario,Canada. He was 25 years old and she was 20 years old.
In the 1850 Census of Canada I found Mary Harper. It listed Mary's father, Benjamin Harper, wife Hannah Harper. Both were born in England. He was listed as a farmer. Benjamin was 35 years old. He was born in the year 1815. Hannah was 30 years old. She was born in the year 1820. Also listed were some of the brothers and sisters of Mary. She was the oldest at 11 years old. Then came Ann, 9 years old, Sarah, 6 years old, Martha, 4 years old, Robert, 2 years old, and Elisabeth, 1 years old .
George says that his father and mother were born in England. His mother and father are George Griggs and Ann Lincoln.
The land he bought in the state of Michigan, in the County of Montcalm, in the township of Fairplains, he bought in the year of 1875. He bought this land from Mary Ehle for $300.00. On Jan. 9, 1875 was the day it was finalized. It also said that he lived in Ionio, Michigan for about 5 years before that.
The 1900 Census says that George and Mary had 7 children and that all 7 children were still living. Here are the names of the children that I know of:

George had two of his children living with him in the 1990 Census. They were Meta, who was born in March 1876. She was 24 years old and was a school teacher. The other child was Pearl. She was born in April 1883 and she was 17 years old and was listed as being in school. The only other child of George and Mary that I know anything about was Franklin Griggs. He was my great grandfather and that would make George my great great grandfather.
