One of the other Griggs I know is Leon Albert Griggs. He was born March 27, 1909 in Sheridan, Michigan. The farm that all the kids where born, the farm. We all called him Uncle Lee.
He lived on a farm just outside of Sheridan (west). He worked this farm for most of his life. I also wanted to work on his farm. So he told me that when I was 16 years old I could work on his farm. But by the time I was able my Uncle Lee was not farming that much any more, so I did not get the chance to do so. But I did get the chance to work with Uncle Lee for a while. We worked on a golf course for about 3 to 4 months together. He taught me how to cut big trees down and remove the trees and we did this right in the middle of the winter.
Most of his life he lived alone, not married. He married a gal named Lottie Banker. She passed away on Feb. 1, 1981. Then he married a gal named Mildred Houghton. I had the pleasure to know both of his wife's. And one of my nicest and enjoyable evenings was when I, my wife Mary, and my mother went out to their farm for supper. Mildred had one of my favorite meals, meat and potatoes. It was good. That was the first time that I had ever gone to his farm. Thank You Uncle Lee and Aunt Mildred. Oh, by the way, Leon was my great Uncle Lee. They where great people.
