Franklin Griggs (son of George Griggs and Mary Harper)^{1494, 1495, 1496, 1497, 1498} was born 19 Apr 1867 in Blenheim, Ontario, Canada^{1499, 1500, 1501, 1502, 1503}, and died 07 Nov 1935 in Sheridan, Montcalm, Michigan¹⁵⁰⁴. He married (1) Rosa M. Ress on 07 Dec 1891 in Montcalm, Michigan¹⁵⁰⁵, daughter of Henry Rees and Mary Rees. He married (2) Mary Violia Fish on 28 Apr 1894 in Belding, Ionia, Michigan, daughter of Hezekiah Fish and Maranda Gilmore.

Frank was born in Blenhelm, Canada on the 19th of April 1867. He was only 3 years old when he moved to the U.S. with his parents. Frank grew up in Sheridan, Michigan. He must have helped his dad on the farm until he bought some land just south of his dads land. I have no idea at this time when he bough the land.
Frank had a first wife named Rosa M. Ress. They were married on Dec. 9 1891 in Montcalm County, Michigan. She died on Aug. 17, 1892 of consumption. Buried in Sheridan Cemetery, Sheridan, Montcalm, Michigan
Then he remarried in April 28,1894 to a gal named Mary V. Fish. She was born on Oct. 5, 1875 in Sidney, Michigan. They were married in Belding, Michigan. He was 26 years old and she was 17 years old when they were married. They had 9 children. They are:

It was not much more than 1 year later that they had their first child named Zora Gladys Griggs. She was born on Oct. 2, 1894. The next in line was Ernest V. Griggs, born on June 12, 1896. About 1 year later they had another boy named Bently A. Griggs, born on Sept. 22, 1897. On Oct. 5, 1899 was their fourth child named Glenn Lemon Griggs, on Oct. 5 1899. So during there first 7 years of marriage they had four children. That leads us to the year 1900.
And so the 1900 Census says that Frank and his wife Mary had four children living with them. The first one during this period was George A. Griggs born on ? ? 1903. Next, Howard G. Griggs born on Jan. 15, 1906. And Leon Albert Griggs was the last one to be born during this 10 year period which was on March 27, 1909. So by 1910 they had 7 of their 9 children.
So the 1910 Census show us that they did in deed have 7 children in the household with the oldest being 15 years old and the youngest being1 month old. In the year 1913 on 12th day of the month of Aug. their was a girl named Marion Genevieve Griggs born to Frank and Mary. This young girl is my grandmother. Then the last child born in this household was a girl named Velma Belle Griggs, born on Nov. 11, 1916.
Franklin and Mary Griggs lived a long time. Franklin lived the shortest years. He was only 68 years old. He passed away in 1935. Mary lived to be 90 years old. She passed away in 1965. Franklin and Mary Griggs were buried in Sheridan Cemetery.
My mother (Dolores Baldwin) says that she would follow her grandfather Griggs (Franklin) when he plowed the fields. She was only 3 years old. Frank was a true farmer. That's all he did was farm. My mother thought that he had about 350 acres. Unfortunately he died of complications from a blow to the stomach from a plow handle. From pictures I have seen he was a very good looking man.
