The Scottish history pays tribute to the courage of the McDonald's or Mac Donald.
The founder of the most ancient clans of the Scottish clan is Somled. He was responsible for the freeing of the Scotts from the Norse Yoke.
Many branches of this old family spruby up throughout the world. The McDonnell's for Ireland is considered to be a branch of the MacDonald clan.
Early American historical records indicate, that many persons bearing this old family name were contructive in the developement of our country and their descendants can be found today in all states of the union well represented in the arts and professions as well as in the world of business.

The McDonald's on our line, started orginally in Scottland. They sailed to the America's approximentally in the 1700's. They eventually settled in Augusta County, Virginia. Both son's from this marriage mirgrated to Kentucky in 1798 to help develope Lexington and later Louisville.
