Patrick Francis Bampton born Portsmouth England 1934

I am researching the history of my family. My father's branch is called Bampton, and my mother's branch is called Weare. I am having difficuly with my grand father on my father's side. I know that he was born in August or September 1862 and lived most of his life in Portsmouth England. I can not however trace his birth certificate and this is really stopping my researches.
