SECOND GENERATION

4. Peter Burghardt BANDY (photo) was born on 9 Mar 1935 in Columbia, MO. He Moved to Madison WI in 1936 in Columbia, MO. His father had accepted a position at the University of Wisconsin.

[Peter] The time at the dawn of my memory is about 1940 when we lived on University Avenue and Allen Street in Madison...a long back yard ending at the railroad tracks, a blind boy that lived in the brick building half way up the Allen Street hill, and getting across University Avenue to go to kindergarten. Then we moved to 2150 West Lawn and I started first grade.
He Moved to Alexandra Virginia in 1941 in Madison, WI. His father had accepted a commission in the US Navy and was sent to Washington DC. He Moved to Washington D.C. in 1942 in Alexandra VA.

For me the war years were a confusing series of transfers from school to school as the school district tried to maintain balance in a dynamic situation in Washington. In retrospect, it was a time of bewildering confusion for the youngest (and I felt the runt) of our family. Then, in quick succession, Helen, Cindy and Carol were born and, at least to my runt oriented mind, I moved down from third to sixth in the sibling pecking order.
He Moved to Madison WI in 1946 in Washington DC. He graduated West High School in Jun 1953 in Madison, WI. He college the University of Wisconsin school of Electrical Engineering from Sep 1953 to Jun 1958 in Madison, WI.
[Peter] The University of Wisconsin Engineering campus was as close to home as the high school, and the transition was interesting. My heart had been broken by a girl I had been dating in high school so while going to the University I sulked for a while, then dated as many girls and as often as I could. I think inwardly I wanted a stable relationship. Then I met JoAnne.
He First meeting his bride to be, JoAnne Wilson at the Kollege Klub on 3 Feb 1955 in Madison, WI.
[Peter] My enthusiasm for school had been in a free fall. Dating JoAnne and keeping up my studies was not easy. I dropped out of school for one semester, long enough to realize that I really needed the education and really wanted to be married to JoAnne. We were married my junior year, and just in time! With her love and support my study habits and grades improved.
He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in Jun 1958 in Madison, WI. He Moved to Poughkeepsie, NY in Jun 1958 in Madison, WI. He start work for IBM on 30 Jun 1958 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He Moved to Kingston, NY in 1964 in Poughkeepsie, NY. While in Poughkeepsie and Kingston he worked on a variety programs as a Development Engineer. He Moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1966 in Kingston, NY. In Minneapolis he was a Systen Engineer for IBM, working primarily on the airline accounts. He Moved to Rochester, MN in 1968 in Minneapolis, MN. He Moved to Pine Island, MN in 1981 in Rochester, MN. He was a Product Planner at IBM Rochester and worked in the Custom Systems and Storage Systems areas. He appointed to the IBM Faculty Loan Program and taught at the Navajo Community College from Sep 1985 to Jul 1986 in Tsaile, AZ. He retired on 28 Feb 1994 in Rochester, MN.
[Peter] I feel fortunate to have landed my job with IBM. I had a career that was consistently interesting, challenging and rewarding. I believe I was with IBM for its very best years. [Cindy - Sister]
As a big brother he took time to dazzle and frustrate me with his dribbling basketball. I recollect blue-jeans on him, Ace Kubiak and other active friends - and the basement laundry crowded with jeans in drying frames hanging from the ceiling. When Pete got married, he took me aside in a basement stair well to assure me that he'd always love his little sister - and he has. Pete is a man of his word.

He was married to JoAnne Lucille WILSON (daughter of Edward Sheridan WILSON and Ethel Loretta HAVEY) on 26 Apr 1957 in Monona, WI. They were married in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Ed and Ethel eloped to Illinois and married 10/27/22, but upon return had to repeat the ceramony in the Catholic Church as directed by Julia (Ed's Mother). So they were remarried, this time in God's eyes, on 11/05/22. JoAnne Lucille WILSON (photo) was born on 1 Apr 1933 in Milwaukee, WI. She graduated in Jun 1951.
[Peter - husband]
I came up with a great piece of luck when she met JoAnne. She showed up just when I needed a purpose in life. She has motivated me, encouraged me, supported me, and when necessary, given me that kick in the rear that I needed. To her everlasting credit, she never tolerated my tiraids. She has been a superior homemaker and is an exciting and innovative cook. Most importantly, at her core she is motivated in everything she does by love.

Peter Burghardt BANDY and JoAnne Lucille WILSON had the following children:

child+14 i. Thomas Edward BANDY.
child+15 ii. Kimberly Ann BANDY.
child16 iii. Dale Burghardt BANDY (photo) was born on 19 May 1959 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He died on 16 Dec 1978 in Rochester, MN.
[Pete - father] There is probably no better lesson for future generations than Dale's life and death. It is not the gifts we are given that matter. It is what we do with them. Dale was gifted in many ways. But for some unknown, insane reason, he decided that he did not want to live, so he killed himself. He did not have any problems that could not have been resolved. He just thought he did. It was his decision. It was wrong. I miss him.
child+17 iv. Robert Allen BANDY.
