About Our Family Research

I began a ahlf-hearted attempt to search for my ancesters when I began having children in 1955. This became a more serious search when my children were grown and I had more time to spend on my hobby. When I began, I know nothing about my mother's family. She was still alive, but a traumatic childhood made it difficult or impossible for her to share information. I began to realize that most of what I wanted to know was a matter of public record, so with few clews, I went looking for the other half of my history. I found my mother's family story to be fascinatingly different from my father's side of the family, different migration patterns, different occupations, and different family names carried down. I was hooked. I researched the families of both of my husbands, and put all my information on my new computer in 1995. I don't know the number of names now recorded that link to mine, either by birth or marriage, but it is in the thousands, and it is all on line, as of March 4, 2001. Families I have done some work on are Chandler, Sweatt, Wilbur, Phillbrick, Bunker, Loring, Stevens, Barden. All these families are in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine, for the most part. I welcome hearing from others searching for families in Northern New England who share one or more of these names.
