The mail route which delivered mail on Barnett Ridge was carried by his father and his uncle. A member of the Barnett family carried mail on this route for more than one hundred years.

He was married to Helen Lynere "Grams" LAWSON (daughter of William Edward LAWSON and Florence Lorrina FLETCHER) on 2 Jan 1923 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. Helen Lynere "Grams" LAWSON was born on 8 Oct 1899 in Cutler, Fairfield Township, Washington County, Ohio. She died on 31 Aug 1997 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. She was buried on 4 Sep 1997 in Rockland, Belpre Township, Washington County, Ohio in the Rockland Cemetery. Helen Lawson Barnett taught school thirty one (31) years in Cutler, Ohio and Parkersburg, West Virginia. She and her husband resided at Vincent, Ohio for forty (40) years before moving to Belpre, Ohio. In her middle nineties she move to Columbus, Ohio to live near her grand daughters, Joan Barnett Mayle and Elizabeth Dee Ann Barnett.
