She was a member of The Links, Inc.; Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.; The Greensboro Public Schools Junior High Teacher's Association.; North Carolina A&T State Faculty, Biology & Bennett College Professor. She also was a member of the North Carolina Funeral Director Association and a licensed Real Estate Broker.

She was married to Eugene Waddell HINNANT (son of William Vandorn HINNANT and Lillian AYERS) in 1947 in South Carolina. Eugene Waddell HINNANT was born on 7 Oct 1924 in Winston, North Carolina. He was educated receiving a BS Degree in Math & Science from North Carolina A&T State University in 1946 in Greensboro, Gilford County, North Carolina. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi, the Shriners and the North Carolina Association of Guardsmen, Inc. (Social). He was a plastering Contractor for many years and General Builder. He also was the owner and manager of the Banner Apartments and other real estate Cordelia Ann BARNETT and Eugene Waddell HINNANT had the following children:
