1371. Lenora May ADAMS
was born on
26 Jan 1885 in Ravenswood, Jackson County, West Virginia. She died on 2 Aug
1960 in Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Washington County, Ohio. She was
buried on 7 Aug 1960 in the Barnett Ridge Cemetery on Barnett Ridge of Barlow
Township in Washington County, Ohio. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday
at the Barnett Ridge Wesleyan Methodist Church with Reverent Henry Mayle, pastor
of the Park Street Wesleyan Methodist Church in Zanesville officiating. Friends
call at the Doudna and Mercure Funeral Home at Marietta, Ohio until Thursday
afternoon. At that time the body was taken to the Glenn Barnett home on Barnett
Ridge. She belonged to the Barnett Ridge Wesleyan Methodist Church and later
transferred to West End Methodist at Zanesville. Lenora had taught at Revenswood,
Lumport, and West Hill, West Virginia and was later employed at the cannery in
Belpre, Ohio. She was married to Talmadge DeWitt BARNETT (son of
Joseph Fontaine BARNETT and Frances "Fannie"
MALE) in 1904. Talmadge DeWitt BARNETT
was born on
13 Feb 1884 in Barnett Ridge, Barlow Township, Washington County, Ohio. He died
on 2 May 1932 in Barnett Ridge, Barlow Township, Washington County, Ohio. Talmage
shot and killed himself in the upstairs, southeast room, of the second house
constructed on the Barnett Ridge Ohio farm (House built 1889 by his father Joseph
F. Barnett). He used a shot gun with which to end his life and the gun containing
an empty shell was found at his side.
Members of the family were away from home at the time and found the lifeless
body upon their return. They summons the sheriff who in turn called Coroner Fred
Jackson of Beverly to the scene. He was buried in the Barnett Ridge Cemetery
on Barnett Ridge of Barlow Township in Washington County, Ohio. Lenora May ADAMS
and Talmadge DeWitt BARNETT had the following children:

Harry Fontaine BARNETT
was born on
9 Aug 1906 in Barnett Ridge, Barlow Township, Washington County, Ohio. He died
on 6 Aug 1924 in Newport, Washington County, Ohio. BATHER IS DROWNED IN DUCK
CREEK: Harry Barnett Loses Life While Swimming Near Whipple Bridge. Companions
Are Unable To Aid.
Stepping into a deep hole while bathing in Duck Creek at 7:15 Tuesday evening,
Harry F. Barnett, 18, employee of the Barnett Construction Company, drowned while
four of his companions, unable to swim, stood on the bank, helpless. Barnett,
who is believed to have suffered an attack of cramps, sank from view without
an outcry. His body was recovered thirty minutes later.
Barnett, who is the son of T.D. Barnett, of Fleming, has been employed on the
road grading above Whipple. Immediately after supper, the boy, with a cousin,
Emmett Barnett, and Virgil Sams, Dennis Honesty and Bernard Barnett, walked down
the creek to Snyder's Bend, where there is a deep swimming hole.
Steps Into Hole. Barnett, who could swim a little, was the first in the water.
He waded out only a short distance from shore, stepped into the hole and disappeared
from view. When he did not come to the surface his companions rushed back to
the camp and notified other workmen of the accident.
Carl Male, H. D. Wadaker and George Wadaker hurried to the stream and disrobing
began diving for the body. Male was successful in one of his attempts and brought
up the victim. In the meantime a call had been sent to Marietta for the pulmotor
and Patrolman Leonard Kelly took it to the scene. A doctor from Warner was called
and every effort was made to resuscitate the man but all effort proved unavailing.
Native of Barnett Ridge. Harry Fontain Barnett was born on Barnett Ridge, Washington
County, eighteen years ago this month, and was the son of D. T. and Lenora Barnett.
He spent the early years of his life in the Fleming community, where he received
his education at the county schools. After leaving school, young Barnett worked
on his fathers farm and during the past two years has been employed on road work
by the Barnett Construction Company. He was buried in the Barnett Ridge Cemetery
on Barnett Ridge of Barlow Township in Washington County, Ohio.

Dec 1892 in Girta, Wirt County, West Virginia. He died in Jul 1979 in Zanesville,
Muskingum County, Ohio. He was buried in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio
in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Lived on Baker Street Zanesville, Muskingum County,
Ohio. School teacher, preacher and farmer. |
