He was buried in Wesley Township, Washington County, Ohio in the Southland (Norris) Cemetery. He was also known as James Miletus Middlebrooks. Cousin Nimrod Goins, age 53 in 1889, resided in Athens County, Ohio and was a member of Co. G, 5th U.S.C.T with James.
