This home page provides a means for the extended cousins who are researching the BASTIN family to have a contact point to other researchers. Presently, the oldest known BASTIN lineage in the United States stops with Thomas Bastin Sr and his wife Hannah BROCKMAN Bastin. They lived in Caswell County, NC from the 1770's until their deaths. Hannah Bastin was probably born in, or around, Albemarle, or Orange County, VA. Thomas is believed to have been born in Pittsylvania Co, VA by some researchers, but there is some evidence that points to Albemarle County as well as to possible earlier ancestors in Essex County, VA.
Thomas was born ABT 1745 and died intestate in Jan 1817. Hannah was born ABT 1749 and died in October 1834, 17 years after Thomas.
Their children included William, John, Thomas Jr, Anna (or Amy), Sarah, Milly, Elizabeth, and Temperence (Tempy).
Descendents on e-mail currently researching this family include descendents of Thomas Jr, Anna, John, and William, with varying branching off points from each of these siblings.
The brothers and sisters moved to Kentucky over ~1810-1830, with the first residences in and around Pulaski County, KY. Thomas Jr ended up in east Barren County (in what is now present day Metcalfe County) around 1830. William died from an accident around 1817 when struck by a falling tree near Somerset, KY. Anna and some of the others moved from Pulaski County, KY to Indiana, and later, their descendents moved to IL, MO, OK, and TX. Some of William's descendents still live in Casey and Lincoln Counties KY; others are known to live in Colorado and Michigan. Thomas Jr.'s descendents are known that live in south central KY (Hart, Barren, and adjoining counties), Florida, and Kansas. John's descendants mostly live in Indiana and Tennessee.
