He was married to Sophia A. Trosper in Apr 1844 in Daviess Co, MO. Fisher R. moved from Hart (then part of Hardin) County, KY to the Brechenridge, MO area in 1842 with his mother, Sarah McCubbin Bennett and her other sons.. Children were: Sophia A. BENNETT, Nicholas T. BENNETT.

Fisher Rice BENNETT The 1820 Green County Census included a Fisher Bennett, over age 45.

The 1829 Hart County Census included a William Bennett, age 26 -45.

There were also two other Bennetts in Barren County in 1820:

William and James, both age 26 - 45. This is probably a different family. Parents: Richard BENNETT and Elizabeth Rice.

Riley worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Louisville following his WW II service. He later worked for the Veterans Administration in Chicago and Washington, DC area prior to his death. He worked with computers during the early years of their development and progressed very well in his career considering he only had an 8th grade education! See the marriage note under Jane Bennett, his third spouse. Parents: Washington Worth BENNETT and Minnie Alice Wright .

James Madison Bennett was born on 25 Aug 1852 in Hart County, KY. An e-mail message posted by Sandi Gorin on Glasgow on the South Central Kentucky genealogy web site on December 9, 1998 listed several birth records for Hart and Green Counties. Incldued was the following:

"8 Sept. 1852, white, male, alive, named James M. at John Bennett's on Lunn Camp, s/o John and Martha (Perkins) Bennett, midwife: Mary Ann Parker."

Note slight difference in birth date.

Mary Ann Parker must have been a very active mid-wife. There are several births recorded in 1852-1853 in the area that she attended! He died on 4 Nov 1905. He was buried in Little Flock Cemetery, Hart County, KY. Parents: John BENNETT and Martha ("Marthy") Jane PERKINS .

He was married to Margaret Elizabeth McCubbins on 6 May 1875 in Hart County, KY. Children were: Florence Bell Bennett, John Ira Bennett, Lucinda Emerine Bennett, Lillie Pearl Bennett , James Elijah Bennett, Minnie Allice Bennett, Sallie Lee Bennett, Lloyd Sherman Bennett, Wiley Robert Bennett, Clarence Emmette Bennett, Ethyl Bennett.

John BENNETT was born on 28 Jan 1823 in Hart County (Eve), KY. John Bennett's family is listed on page 373 of the 1870 Hart County Census. Area is Powder Mills District.

He is also listed on the earlier censuses for this area.
He died on 2 Jul 1915 in Hart County (Eve), KY. He was buried in Bennett Cemetery near Lynn Camp Creek.⁽¹⁴³⁾ Directions to the cemetery:
Travel 3.1 miles east of Linwood, KY on Highway # 566 to just past the Lynn Camp Creek bridge at Green River. Make a left turn onto Bennett Road and go approx. 0.4 mile to the top of the hill just past the tobacco barn that is on the right side of the road. There is a metal gate on the left side of the road in the grove of large pine trees. The cemetery is at the end of the road in a group of hardwood trees just before the road heads down hill. John (age 87) and "Emarine" (age 67) were living with a son, Henry M. Bennett and his wife, Flora B. when the 1910 Hart County Census was taken. They were probably living in the John Bennett home. Another son, Worth, was living in the next house according to the Census record. Parents: William BENNETT and Sarah (Sally) MCCUBBIN.

He was married to Sarah PERKINS on 30 Sep 1842 in Hart County, KY. John apparently stayed in KY in 1842 and married rather than move to the Breckenridge, MO area with his mother and brothers. However, it is possible that he and his new wife moved to Missouri and then returned within the next 1-3 years. All of his children were born in KY according to all available records and the first child was born in 1846. This is consistent with the commets below concerning purchase of the farm in approx. 1845 when John was 22 years old. See comments on Sarah McCubbin Bennett concerning the family's move to Missouri in 1842..

According to notes James Bennett wrote from a conversation with his father, John Henry Bennett, John Bennett, William's son, purchased the farm on top of the hill near the mouth of Lynn Camp Creek when he was 22 years old (aprox. 1845 based on his birth year). The land had 2 cleared acres out of a total of 200 acres. Approximately 120 acres of this land has been owned continuously by his descedents ever since it was purchased by John. As of the year 2000, it is still owned by Nancy Bennett, widow of Frank Bennett. Frank was the great grandson of John Bennett. Children were: Nancy C. Bennett, Sarah F. Bennett, Marthy Jane Bennett, William Thomas Bennett.
