Richard Bennett obtained from Edwin Crump a 2-page article written by Thelma Romaine, granddaughter of Margaret (Mag) Crump Bale. The article describes a visit made in 1916 by Thelma and her grandmother during the summer to visit Porter and "Aunt Meelie" Crump.
They rode their buggy from the Canmer area to the Wheeler farm located immediately across Green River from the Porter Crump farm. They would leave their buggy and horse with the Wheelers and yell for Porter Crump to pick them up in his boat. His home was at the edge of the bluff across the large river bottom land from Green River.

The 1900 Hart County Census indicates she had a total of 8 children with three living. Some of these may have been mischarges. David McCubbin built a log house now owned and occupied by Theodore D. Chance.

The latter is composed of two separate buildings, connected and covered with one roof, about eight or 10 feet apart. Each log room had large a fireplace. Logs for these fireplaces were dragged to the space between the buildings, called the entry, put in the desired door and dragged to the fireplace needed them.

Tradition says that David McCubbin invented the first metal plow. It is not well accepted as farmers were sure it would the poison the earth to the extent that crops cannot be raised.

David McCubbin died in 1908 it was about 90 for years old. Pleasant McCubbin (born September 19,1804) died on Oct. 6,1863 and was buried in a cemetery near Warsaw.

On Aug 18, 1839 the three familes of THomas and David McCubbin and Joel Thacker a step-son of Joseph McCubbin were living in Miller Co., Mo.
