Ancestors of Julius Rothstein

Generation No. 1

      1. Julius Rothstein, born Mar 1830 in Rawitsch/Posen1; died Aug 28, 1899 in Berlin. He was the son of 2. Male #1 Rothstein. He married (1) Frumet Frank Bef. 1858 in Berlin. She was born Sep 10, 1825 in Sandersleben, Germany2, and died Aug 28, 1911 in Berlin3. She was the daughter of Pincus Mathias Frank and Zipora Meier.

Notes for Julius Rothstein:
According to Kaethe Beutler:

My grandfather (Julius Rothstein) was born in a small town near the
Polish border. Like many other towns in Poland as well as in the Polish part
of Germany, this town was inhabited in the larger part by Jews. Like most
of these Jewish families, the Rothsteins had quite a few children, probably
seven or eight. My grandfather left the home of his parents right after his
Bar Mitzwah and went to Berlin. He started out by sweeping out the shop of
a tobacco dealer, and ended up as a stock broker. He was the son who made
good, and as such he financed the marriages of his sisters and of many of
his nieces, he found jobs for brothers and nephews, and had to help out
whenever someone of the family got into difficulty.

Notes for Frumet Frank:
According to Kthe Beutler:

My grandmother (Fanny Frank) came from a better educated family.
She was born in a small town south of Berlin, but grew up in Berlin. Her
education was not more than the regular girls school, but she was very well
read. Her father died rather young, and her mother rented out rooms in order
to make a living. One of roomers was Julius Rothstein (RN82).
