Was money changer in conjunction with Kurt Rosenthal. He was one of the few who realized early that Hitler was a menace who should be taken seriously.
In 1935, at the suggestion of Franz Rosenthal he moved to South Africa. He was not permitted to practice as a lawyer there, but worked as a banker and/or merchant. He did not like living in South Africa, and returned to Germany in 1958, where he could again practice law. This did not work out, however, and he moved to New York in 1961.
