He married Jane (Mary) Watson; on the 17th December 1887 at St. Michaels Church, Bishopwe armouth in Sunderland and for a time they lived at 5, Gill Bridge Terrace, Sunderland. He wor ked originally as a labourer for the Gas Company as a lamplighter until sometime between 188 9 and 1891 when he began work as a miner. William and Jane who was known as Mary or Polly ha d at least 3 children. Thomas Joseph who was born on the 14th of October 1889, Jane who was b orn on the 5th of May 1888 and Elizabeth Jane who was born on the 1st of August 1891. The chi ldren were all born at 5 Gill Bridge Avenue and all christened at St Michaels Church, Bishopw earmouth.

bullet Henry Brace(22) (1) was born in 1841 in Barnstaple, Devon. He died in 1923 in Sunderland, County Durham. Henry Brace was born in 1841 in Barnstaple, Devon. Sometime over the next few years he moved to Glamorgan, Sth. Wales where he later met and married Elizabeth Hawke who was born in Port Talbot in 1853. They were married in 1875 in Merthyr Tydfil. Around 1877, the family were living in Aberdare in Glamorgan and it was here that there eldest son Frederigh (who, for ease of use, later became known as Frederick) was born in that year. In 1879, they were in Oysnou Valley in Wales and it was around then that their second child, Charlotte was born. In July 1880 the family were in Swansea and their second son Thomas was born here. Shortly after it appears they moved back to 3 Cross Row Cwmbach, Aberdare (which was the home of Elizabeth' s parents) as their son Thomas was baptised on the 13th of September 1880 at the parish church of St. John in Aberdare. Henry was employed at this time as an Overman at the local pit . Around late 1880 or early 1881 the family moved again, this time to County Durham in England where Henry worked as a Coal Miner.It appears that in August or September of 1885 Elizabeth gave birth to another daughter called Martha and she was baptised in Wales at the parish church of St. Elvan in Aberdare. Though this may seem strange, it would make sense as Elizabeth's father Thomas Hawke was possibly ill by this time and having been a widower for the last 2 and a half years it may have fallen to Elizabeth to be responsible for his care before he died in August 1886. Elizabeth gave birth to their youngest daughter Mary Elizabeth in back in Sunderland on the 19th September 1887 at 8 Hodgsons Buildings, Monkwearmouth.
