Notes for CHARLES WARREN TINSLEY: Charles Warren Tinsley by Lucille Morris: Mrs. Cecyl Muhr of the Redington Community received word last Thursday, July 6, 1944, that her brother, Pvt. Charles Warren Tinsley, was killed in action in France on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Pvt. Tinsley just recently awarded the Army Silver Star for gallantry in action in the vicinity of Troina, Italy, last August 3. He had previously been awarded the Purple Heart for arm wounds suffered in the same engagement. Pvt. Tinsley was the son of Mrs. Lillie Tinsley of Scottsbluff and the grandson of Mrs. George Tinsley of this city. His wife and 10 month old daughter, whom he never saw, live in Morrill. Pvt. Tinsley attended school in Morrill and Scottsbluff. His father, the late Clarence Tinsley passed away in 1941. The last word received from him was from England before the invasion. |
