Frank C. Tinsley, 80, Rapid City, died Friday, October 25, 1996, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Mr. Tinsley was born July 10, 1916, in Lakewood, Colorado, to Thomas W. Tinsley and Anna L. Collins Tinsley. He attended schools in Rapid City, Custer and Hill City, and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps., Pactola District, from 1937 to 1939.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Eleanor Lilly October 27, 1943, in Louisville, KY., and moved to Rapid City in 1945.

Mr. Tinsley worked as a business machine mechanic for Dakota Typewriter and Jaehn's Office Supplies for 20 years, retiring in 1981. He was a life member of the First Congregational Church where he served as a deacon, and a member of the Black Hills Mineral Society.

During his younger years, he was an avid hunter, angler and archer. He was a dedicated mineral collector and also enjoyed fossil collecting in his later years. In 184, he had a mineral named for him, Tinsleyite. He gave many mounted micro-minerals to the museum of South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Tinsley; one son Thomas C. Tinsley; and one daughter, Kathryn J. Tinsley, all of Rapid City.

He was receded in death by his parents and one sister.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church with the Rev. Susan Huffman officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established to the Heart Fund.

Behrens Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

He married NEDRA CLARA MCMANAMAN 09 Jun 1932 in Hot Springs, South Dakota. She was born 22 Mar 1916 in Livingston Co., Bone Gap, Illinois, and died 28 Jun 1971 in Roseville, California.

Stan had a band in Hot Springs, SD, that was called the "Dukes of Rhythm" and the band became quite popular, playing regularly at proms, weddings, etc. Nedra also sang in the band.

They moved to the Black Hills Army Depot (Igloo) which provided bombs which chemical weapons and was a top secret base. Stanley was a civil service police office. The base was closed in 1966 and Stan and Nedra transferred to McClellan Air Force Base near Roseville, CA.

EDRA CLARA MCMANAMAN:
Funeral services for Mrs. Stanley Tinsley, who died June 27, at Roseville, California, after a long illness, were held Thursday, July 1, at 10:00 a.m. at McColley's Chapel of the Hills with the Rev. Peter Dahlberg officiating.

Pallbearers were Bill Sides, Jerry Biever, William Holt, Matt Biever, Clarence Hall and John Doughdrill. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. Nedra McManaman Tinsley was born March 22, 1916 at Bone Gap, Illinois. She married Stanley Lewis Tinsley in June 1932 at Hot Springs and made her home in Hot Springs and the Igloo area the most of her life. They moved to California in 1966.

Survivors include the widower, Stanley Tinsley, Roseville; seven daughters: Joan Zacher, Bismark ND; April Pappijahn, Los Angeles, CA; Sharon Fritz, San Pedro, CA; Mrs. Jack LeBlanc, Hot Springs, SD; Heather Black, Starbuck MN; Karla Jo Cook, Chico, CA; Sandra Tinsley, Paid City; one son Stanley, Washington D.C.; a brother, Earl Keith McManaman, Pensacola, FL; and 22 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kenneth (Buster) McManaman.

Nedra was a very gentle,a extremely intelligent lady. She had impeccable manners and made sure her children did also. She, at one point, sang in Stanley's band when they were younger. She was a beautiful lady, tall, thin, olive skin with black eyes and hair.

Cause of Death: myocardial infraction due to arteriosclerotic heart disease. She had pulmonary.
Medical Information: Mother's maiden name was McManaman. Her parents were Zelta Mabel Davis and Albert McManaman. She moved to Roseville, California in 1966 when the Black Hills Army Depot was closed down.
