Funeral services for John W. Tampa, 82, who died September 2 at a Hot Springs hospital, were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m., at McColley's Chapel of the Hills. Warren Schooley, minister of the Fall River Church of Christ, officiated. Pall bearers were Edwin Lorenson, Jerry Briggs, Earl Pullins, John Doughdrill, Wallace Johnson and Frank Cockerham. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery.

John William Tampa was born June 16, 1888, in Czechoslovakia. His great-grandfather settled in Florida and the city of Tampa was named after him. John Tampa married Jessie Mabel Lucas November 4, 1918. They lived near Rapid City where he was a rancher until 1931, when they moved to Hot Springs where he has since lived. By occupation, he was a master carpenter. He had also worked as a timber foreman for Homestake Mining Company at Lead, and had worked for the former Lash Lumber Company here.

Survivors include one son, Stanley Tinsley, Roseville, California; eight grandchildren, including Mrs. Jack LeBlanc, Hot Springs; and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, in 1960.
