411. Lord Gilbert de Clare was born before 1066. He died between 1114 and 1117. He was also known as Gilbert Fitzrichard. Lord of Clare, Suffolk, Tonbridge, Kent, and Cardigan, Wales. He founded the Priory at Clare in 1090 and was granted the Lordship of Cardigan by Henry I from 1107-1111. Joined the rebellion against King William Rufus and lost his castle of Tonebruge, dying shortly theeafter. He was a benefactor of the church.
