PATRICK de Salisbury died about 7 Apr 1168 in Battle of Poitou,
France. Named first Earl of Salisbury and Earl of Wiltshire about 1143. Sheriff
of Wiltshire, he was with Henry, Duke of Normandy, at Devizes on April 13, 1149
and again in 1153; was at Westminster on November 6, 1153 to witness the treaty
between Stephen and Henry. In 1167 he was left n charge of the royal forces
in Poitou and was killed in the battle of Poitou by Geoffrey de Lusignan about
