Countess Ela Fitzpatrick.643. William FITZPATRICK was born about 1150. He died on 17 Apr 1196. Earl of Wiltshire, styled as Earl of Salisbury. He remained loyal during the rebellion of the King's sons, 1173-74. Sheriff of Wilts 1189-90 and 1191-96, he attended Richard's Coronation September 3, 1189 and was apparently in close attendance upon the King until the latter left Dover for Normandy on December 12. He was sheriff of Dorset and Somerset during 1194, attended the Great Council at Nottingham in March 1194 and the KIng's 2nd Coronation at Winchester on April 17, 1194.
He was married
to ELEANOR de VITRE (daughter of ROBERT de VITRE and
EMMA de DINAN) about 1190. ELEANOR de VITRE
died between 31 May 1232 and 12. A benefactress of the Abbey of Mondaye, near
Bayeux. William FITZPATRICK and ELEANOR de VITRE had the following children:
