10065. Samuel Pryor BABB was born on 31 Dec 1904 in Tryon, NC. He died in 1962. He was a. Pharmacist He resided in Greenville, Greenville County, South Carolina. The family lived in Greenville, South Carolina, where his father was a pharmacist. After the death of his father, Pryor stayed with his paternal grandmother in Laurens, where he attended high school. He was a gifted artist, and could make a pencil , brush, or char-coal really move! He was senior commercial artist for the A & P Tea Company for many years, later, having his own business in Florida. Remember the first eye-catching billboard of the little Coppertone beach girl and her dog? He d id it! His final work and retirement was in San Diego, California. He died in 1962, and is buried in San Diego.

Mamie Lee WRIGHT was born on 10 Oct 1906 in Clinton, SC. She is the daughter of James Lee Wright and Bertha Beatrice Templeton. She is the granddaughter of Mary Cantey Villeponteaux Lee Wright of Clinton and Zaccheus Wright. Mary's uncle was the first president of Presbyterian College of the city. Mary , known as Mamie, was also the founder of the Stephen D. Lee Chapter, UDC, in Clinton. Mary was of Huguenot descent. Samuel Pryor BABB and Mamie Lee WRIGHT had the following children:

I was born in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1932. That was the year a Butterfinger candy bar cost 5 cents, the year President Roosevelt inaugurated the Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, and the year Elizabeth Taylor was born!

I graduated from St. Theresa High School in Coral Gables, Florida, and received my education as a Registered Nurse from Columbia Hospital, after which I served in the United States Navy Nurse Corps for ten years.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, English minor, at Lone Mountain College in San Francisco, California "in 1976, LMC merged with the University of San Francisco" and completed a fifth year at LMC earning a Bachelor of Science Degre e in Elementary Education with special permission to attach Colonial American History. I began my Master of Science in Elementary Education at the University of California at Berkeley. I'm two courses away from completing this degree.

I was married to a career naval officer. He died in 1976, as a result of having been exposed to Agent Orange in Viet-Nam. I have three daughters and two granddaughters.

You can usually find me reading, working with miniatures, or surfing the 'net. A favorite friend and loving companion is Lyndale, White Snow of McAlpin, my darling 6-year-old Bichon Frise, who answers to the name of "Bear".

Genealogical research is a favorite activity of mine. I am a researcher who enjoys preserving the past with links to the future. I am not a certified genealogist, but I am willing to help you in any way that I can. I am happy to answer any questio ns relevant to my site, and to provide birth, death or marriage dates. I do not anticipate making that data available on site, but will give upon contact.
