1751 in Presbyterian, Huntington, Long Island, NY. He died on 24 Mar 1812 in
Brewster, Putnam County, New York. He has Ancestral File number HGM1-P6. Listed
in DAR Patriot Index as Lt NY.

For Revolutionary War service received land, 1200 acres, at Scipio and
Cincinnatus, New York.
Mary (Polly) died in Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York approximately ten
miles from Macedon, Wayne County, New York.
Finch was a Lieutenant in the American Revolution and was a refugee from
Long Island to Norwalk, Connecticut. On December 11, 1781, he asked for a
permit to go from Norwal to Long Island. On December 17, 1781, General
Waterbury allowed him to go to Long Island with a flag. He served in the third
line and in the Additional Corps of the line; also in Weisesnfol's and
Malcolm's levies. He was appointed Quartermaster 1 September 1777. In 1791 he
removed to a farm in Dutchess County, New York, now part of Putnam County. There
were numerous issue, including Rev. Benjamin Gildersleeve, a graduate of Middlebury
College, who was father in turn of the famous Professor Basil Lannau Gildersleeve.

(135) was born on 1 Jan 1758 in Norwalk, Fairfield, Connecticut. She
died in 1853 in Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York. Lieutenant Finch Gildersleeve
