Dear George & Leona,
I received the book of papers Aug. 27th, Thank you. I haven't had time to go into it co mpletely but have enjoyed what I've read so far.
There are some correction to be made however. My maiden name was Shirley Louise van de r Heyden. I was born on October 22nd 1920 - not toe 21st. It was in my grandfather's hous e in Washtucna.
About the family as I can remember it.
Irma married Joseph William Moss Van der Heyden in 1919. They separated early in 1921 , mainly because of Carrie [Caroline Bowman]. Joseph went back to Holland when his mother wa s ill. Carrie didn't like him & when he was gone she talked Irma into filing for a divorce . He got back before the divorce was final but Irma was afraid to move with him to Seattle w here he had a job & to leave her mother so he said o.k. Carrie could have us both & he neve r wanted to see us again.
Mother married Greeley Sooter when I was 4. They separted in 1936. She & Vince Rau go t together that fall and were together until her death.
I married Nelson R. Rogers in Dec. 1938. He decided it was easier to forge someone else s name to checks than it was to work. Mother & I kept him out of prison the first time but j ust when I learned I was pregnant in 1939 the lawyer called & said the police had some more o f his checks. He left town to avoid arrest. I didn't see him again till after Kathy was bor n - she was born on May 30th 1940. I saw him at the sheriff's office in Spokane in June. H e was sent to Monroe Reformatory.
I met Robert Stickney Dec. 11, 1943. We went to Seattle in 1944. Joseph Milo Stickne y was born there on March 8, 1945. Sherry Ann Stickney was born in Pasco, Wa. on June 17, 19 46.
Their children are as follows;
Sherry has 5 - Scott born November 26, 1964 - Christina born November 25, 1966 - Timoth y born February 8, 1969 - Ronald born February 15, 1972 - Debra born August 3, 1982.
Joseph has 2 - Sandra born November 3, 1967 - Susan born April 7, 1971.
I have 7 great grandchildren;
Tina's children; Tonya - born January 3, 1985.
Diedra - born May 12, 1987.
J. D. - born July 8, 1995.
Sandra's children; Cynthia \
Courtney/ born January 22, 1992.
Timothy's Keegan - born August 3, 1996.
Ron's daughter - Erica - born June 17, 1990 (none of us have seen her).

A lot of this isn't relevant to the family tree and a lot of the relationships aren't fu lly explained. If you want me to I'll explain them fully next time I see you.
However, please correct the birthdates etc, when I get the papers back to you.
Thank You,
Shirley

Funeral Announcement from Vancouver Funeral Chapel and Northwood Park Cemetery, Vancouver, Wa shington:
To Those I Love and Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, let me go-
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears,
be happy that we had
so many beautiful years.

I gave to you my love. You can only guess
how much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
but now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part
so bless the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on
so if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
and if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
all my love around you soft and clear.

And the, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile, and say-
"Welcome Home".
