Small note written in long hand found with Edith Gildersleeve's memorabilia:
"At 4 o'clock one afternoon, some 36 years ago, Dr. Brown met the stork
at the fire place an d took charge of a SWEET baby boy, who has grown to a full
sized man now. Well Dr Brown lef t soon after that and went to Mexico and married
a Spanish Lady. He sent Dad and I an announ cement card and this is the stamp
that was on it. Don't suppose [over] Walter remembers muc h about it but his
mother will never forget, for to her he was the dearest thing in the whol e world
as also were the dear little girls God had given to her, as also were the sweet
littl e boy and girl, that came to live with us later. That was a LONG time
ago and now sometime s I feel very much alone so far from them. And now there
are six dear sweet babies and I a m a Great Grandmother."
