Jacob Haight Gildersleeve, fifth son of Joseph (3) and Mary (Mosher) Gildersleeve,
was a prin ter by trade. Founded "The Rondout Freeman," one of the
largest and most influential newspap ers on the Hudson River. During his Rondout
career, his purity of life, and warm, genial nat ure, attracted to him many devoted
friends. He was esteemed and honored by all, and loved b y many. He was married
to Margaret McCausland, daughter of James and Sarah McCausland, of ron dout,
New York, January 16, 1861. Died March 26, 1865; funeral services being held
in the Pr esbyterian Church, Rondout, (Kingston,) New York, Rev. Mr. Irving,
pastor. Interred in Montr epose Cemetery.
He was married to Margaret McCausland
(daughter of ) on 16 Jan 1861. Jacob Haight Gildersleeve
and Margaret McCausland had the following children:
